The forty-second chapter of the Trishatilak Mahapurana, composed by Acharya Jinaseena, entitled "Bharataraja Varnaashrama Sthiti Praatipadan", describes the establishment of the Varnaashrama system by King Bharata.
**Verse 206:** The great sage Gautama, the knower of all truths, explained to the king of Magadha, Shrenik, the Jain scriptures, which reveal the nature of all things. He described the noble character of the Kshatriyas, as well as the Tirthankaras, who are adorned with the three jewels (right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct).
**Verse 207:** The king Bharata, who worshipped the feet of the Lord Rishabhadeva, the master of the three worlds, and who remembered the virtues of the first Tirthankara, spent his time in endless festivities, filled with joy.
**Verse 208:** King Bharata, who worshipped the Jinas daily, who satisfied the needs of the needy, and who was served by kings with crowns bowed to the ground, ruled over the entire earth, from the Himalayas to the sea, without any enemies. He enjoyed the tenfold pleasures of life, such as palaces, jewels, treasures, armies, food, beds, vehicles, entertainment, etc.
