## The Great Purana
Thus, when asked, the wise Vidamvara explained the truth, the path to liberation, and the Dharma, which is established through contemplation. ||11|| Know that the words of the Apta, who have attained the goal of truth, are the best teachings. Any other words, not spoken by the Apta, are merely the dirt of speech. ||12|| One who is free from attachment, all-knowing, benevolent, whose words are appropriate, true, and pure, and who is the guide to the path of liberation, is called an Apta. All others, who are not Apta but appear to be so, are merely imitations. ||13|| They are distinguished by their form, brilliance, qualities, meditation, characteristics, powers, generosity, beauty, victory, knowledge, vision, strength, and the nectar of happiness. ||14|| One who surpasses even the Chakravartin and Indra in these qualities is the Apta, the all-knowing, the supreme lord of all worlds. ||15|| Therefore, the Jain doctrine, which is spoken by the Apta, which cannot be refuted, and which even those who claim to be all-knowing cannot touch, is the path to liberation for those who seek it. ||16|| It is based on logic and scripture, unique, radiant, with profound teachings, concise, unambiguous, and known to be the word of the self-existent. ||17|| This is also its proof, as it contains scriptures, mantras, rituals, and other elements, which are well-established and not found in other doctrines. ||18|| I will explain these elements in order, for when they are approached, the words of other doctrines appear to be false. ||19|| The Dharma is that which contains the true explanation of the Vedas, Puranas, Smritis, conduct, rituals, mantras, deities, symbols, and purity of food, etc., as explained by the great sages. This is the true path, and all others are merely imitations. ||21||
