महापुराणम् प्रोक्तास्त्विन्द्रोपपादाभिषेकदान सुखोदयाः। इन्द्र त्यागाख्यमधुना संप्रवक्ष्ये क्रियान्तरम् ॥२०२॥ किञ्चिन्मात्रावशिष्टायां स्वस्यामायुःस्थितौ सुरेटर । बुद्ध्वा स्वर्गावतारं स्वं सोऽनुशास्त्यमरानिति ।२०३। भो भोःसुधाशना ययम्ब्यस्माभिः पालिताश्चिरम् । केचित् पित्रीयिताः केचित् पुत्रप्रीत्योपलालिताः॥२०४॥ पुरोधोमन्त्र्यमात्यानां पदे केचिनियोजिताः । वयस्यपीठ मदीयस्थाने दृष्टाश्च केचन ॥२०॥ स्वप्राणनिविशेषञ्च केचित् त्राणाय सम्मताः । केचिन्मान्यपदे दृष्टाः पालकाः स्वनिवासिनाम् ॥२०६॥ केचिच्चमूचरस्थाने' केचिच्च स्वजनास्थया । प्रजासामान्यमन्ये च केचिच्चानुचराः पृथक् ॥२०७॥ केचित् परिजनस्थाने केचिच्चान्तःपुरे चराः। काश्चिद् वल्लभिका देव्यो महादेव्यश्च काश्चन ॥२०८॥ इत्यसाधारणा प्रीतिर्मया युष्मास दर्शिता। स्वामिभक्तिश्च युष्माभिः मय्यसाधारणी धुता ॥२०६॥ साम्प्रतं स्वर्गभोगेषु गतो मन्देच्छतामहम् । प्रत्यासना हि मे लक्ष्मीः अद्य भूलोकगोचरा ॥२१०॥ युष्मत्साक्षि ततः कृत्स्नं स्वःसामाज्यं मयोज्झितम्। यश्चान्यो मत्समो भावी तस्मै सर्व समर्पितम्॥२११॥ इत्यनुत्सुकतां तेषु भावयन्ननु शिष्य तान् । कुर्वन्निन्द्रपदत्यागं स व्यथां नैति० धीरधीः ॥२१२॥ इन्द्रत्यागक्रिया सैषा तत्स्व गातिसर्जनम् । धीरास्त्यजन्त्यनायासादैश्यं तादृशमप्यहो ॥२१३॥
इति इन्द्र त्यागः । इस प्रकार स्वर्गलोकमें उत्पन्न होने के योग्य ये विधिदान और इन्द्र सुखोदय नामकी दो क्रियाएं मानी गई हैं ॥२०१॥ ये पैंतीसवीं और छत्तीसवीं विधिदान तथा सुखोदय क्रियाएं हैं।
इस प्रकार इन्द्रोपपाद, इन्द्राभिषेक, विधिदान और सुखोदय ये इन्द्र सम्बन्धी चार क्रियाएं कहीं । अब इन्द्रत्याग नामकी पृथक क्रियाका निरूपण करता है ।।२०२।। इन्द्र जब अपनी आयुकी स्थिति थोड़ी रहने पर अपना स्वर्गसे च्युत होना जान लेता है तब वह देवोंको इस प्रकार उपदेश देता है ॥२०३।। कि भो देवो, मैंने चिरकालसे आपका पालन किया है, कितने ही देवोंको मैंने पिताके समान माना है, कितने ही देवोंको पुत्रके समान बड़े प्रेमसे खिलाया है, कितने हीको पुरोहित, मन्त्री और अमात्यके स्थानपर नियुक्त किया है, कितने हीको मैंने मित्र और पीठमर्दके समान देखा है। कितने ही देवोंको अपने प्राणों के समान मानकर उन्हें अपनी रक्षाके लिये नियक्त किया है, कितने हीको देवोंकी रक्षाके लिये सम्मानयोग्य पदपर देखा है, कितने हीको सेनापतिके स्थानपर नियुक्त किया है, कितने हीको अपने परिवारके लोग समझा है, कितने हीको सामान्य प्रजाजन माना है, कितने हीको सेवक माना है, कितने हीको परिजनके स्थानपर और कितने हीको अन्तःपुरमें रहनेवाले प्रतीहारी आदिके स्थानपर नियुक्त किया है। कितने ही दौवयोंको वल्लभिका बनाया है और कितनी ही देवियोंको महादेवी पदपर नियुक्त किया है, इस प्रकार मैंने आप लोगोंपर असाधारण प्रेम दिखलाया है और आप लोगोंने भी हमपर असाधारण प्रेम धारण किया है ॥२०४-२०९।। इस समय स्वर्गके भोगोंमें मेरी इच्छा मन्द हो गई है और निश्चय ही पृथिवी लोककी लक्ष्मी आज मेरे निकट आ रही है ॥२१०॥ इसलिये आज तुम सबकी साद
की साक्षीपूर्वक मैं स्वर्गका यह समस्त सामाज्य छोड रहा हैं और मेरे पीछे मेरे समान जो दूसरा इन्द्र होनेवाला है उसके लिये यह समस्त सामग्री समर्पित करता हं ॥२११॥ इस प्रकार उन सब देवोंमें अपनी अनुत्कण्ठा अर्थात् उदासीनताका अनुभव करता हुआ इन्द्र उन सबके लिये शिक्षा दे और धीरवीर बुद्धिका धारक हो, इन्द्र पदका त्याग कर दुःखी न हो ॥२१२।। इस तरह जो स्वर्गके भोगोंका त्याग करता है वह इन्द्रत्याग क्रिया है । यह भी एक

Some I have considered as ordinary citizens, some I have considered as servants. ||207|| Some I have placed in positions of service, some I have placed in the inner palace. Some I have made beloved wives, and some I have appointed as great queens. ||208|| Thus, I have shown extraordinary love to you all, and you have also shown extraordinary devotion to me. ||209|| Now, my desire for heavenly pleasures has waned, and surely the wealth of the earth is approaching me. ||210|| Therefore, in the presence of you all, I am relinquishing this entire kingdom of heaven. And to whoever will be the next Indra like me, I dedicate all this. ||211|| Thus, feeling no regret for them, he teaches them, being wise and courageous, he relinquishes the position of Indra and does not grieve. ||212|| This is the action of Indra Tyaga, the relinquishing of his own heavenly abode. The wise abandon such a position effortlessly, oh, how wonderful! ||213||
Thus ends the Indra Tyaga. In this way, these two actions, Vidhidana and Indra Sukhodaya, are considered suitable for being born in the heavenly realm. ||201|| These are the thirty-fifth and thirty-sixth actions, Vidhidana and Sukhodaya.
In this way, Indra Uppapada, Indra Abhisheka, Vidhidana, and Sukhodaya are the four actions related to Indra.
