**Mahapuraanam**
The intense effort with fervor towards Yoga and Dhyana and their purpose is called the supreme penance, the attainment of Yoga Nirvana. ||17||
Having made the necessary preparations and purified the body, one should emaciate the body equally with the defects like attachment, etc. ||18||
This Yoga Nirvana is the preliminary contemplation before renunciation. It is attained by abandoning the desire for life and the wish for death, for the sake of attaining the glorious self. ||18||
One should abandon attachment and aversion, and remove doubt in attaining the good. One should refrain from considering the non-self as the self. ||182||
"I am not the body, nor the mind, nor the speech, nor the cause of these three." One should contemplate the feeling of otherness without being anxious about these three. ||183||
"I am alone, I have no one, and I am not anyone's." One should contemplate the oneness with a generous mind. ||184||
Placing the mind on the eternal and infinite abode of happiness, the place of liberation, the Yogi should contemplate Yoga Nirvana for the attainment of Yoga Siddhi. ||185||
Thus, the attainment of Nirvana is achieved. Then, abandoning all food and the body, the Yogindra should be devoted to the practice of Yoga Nirvana. ||186||
Having placed respect in the supreme goal, having abandoned attachment to the body, and with a noble mind, the ascetic should contemplate his own mind, speech, and body as distinct from himself. ||187||
Focusing the mind on the feet of the five Supreme Beings, one should make the practice of Yoga Nirvana his own at the end of life. ||188||
Yoga is Samadhi, Nirvana is the bliss attained through Samadhi. This Yoga Nirvana is the means to attain the desired goal. ||189||
Thus, the practice of Yoga Nirvana. ||189||
The person attains the practice of Yoga Nirvana. ||178||
