The Twenty-Sixth Chapter 15 The Rajahansa (royal swan) was made to be like a beautiful, flowing river, like a victorious Lakshmi, a beloved one, who is coming to be attained. 138. She is like a lotus, born from the water, a giver of joy to the people, a beautiful one, worthy of being enjoyed by the world, and she is adorned with beauty. 136. She is like a victorious army, praised for her attack on the shores of the mountains, a divine one, like a flag, with an unbroken flow. 140. She is like a beautiful woman, with her eyes rolling, touched by the trees on the banks of the river, with the breaking of the buds, and she is loved by the amorous ones. 141. She is like a beautiful woman, sitting on a swing of creepers, with the gods and goddesses, laughing with the sweet sounds of the birds, coming from the branches of the trees. 142. She is like a beautiful woman, adorned with a creeper-made pavilion, with the Kinnaras (celestial musicians) playing their musical instruments, and she is worshipped by the people. 143. Just as the Jina-vani (the teachings of the Jinas) gives rise to profound words, so too does this river give rise to profound words. And just as the Jina-vani is free from impurities, so too is this river free from impurities. - Or, she is like the victorious Lakshmi of (Bharata), because just as the Rajahansa (royal swans) worship the victorious Lakshmi, so too do the Rajahansa (royal swans) worship this river. Just as no one can disrespect the victorious Lakshmi, so too can no one disrespect this river. Just as the future of the victorious Lakshmi is clear, so too is the length of this river clear. Just as the victorious Lakshmi is vast, so too is this river vast. And just as the victorious Lakshmi goes to the sea, so too does this Ganga go to the sea. - Or, she is like the Lakshmi of Bharata's kingdom, because just as the Lakshmi of Bharata's kingdom was born from a beautiful lotus, so too was this river born from a lotus-like lake. Just as the Lakshmi of Bharata's kingdom gives joy to the people, so too does this river give joy to the people. Just as the Lakshmi of Bharata's kingdom is worthy of being enjoyed by the world, so too is this river worthy of being enjoyed by the world. And just as the Lakshmi of Bharata's kingdom is adorned with beauty from the future, so too is this river adorned with beauty from its length. - Or, she is like the army of Bharata, because just as the army of Bharata was praised for attacking the shores of the mountains for victory, so too was this river praised for attacking the shores of the mountains for victory (the Ganga river flows, attacking the shores of the mountains for victory). Just as the army of Bharata was swift, so too was this river swift. Just as no one could stop the spread of the army of Bharata, so too could no one stop the spread of this river. And just as the army of Bharata was divine, so too was this river divine.
