चतुस्त्रिंशत्तम पर्व
१५७ न भोक्तुमन्यथाकारं महीं तेभ्यो वदाम्यहम् । कथङकारमिदं चक्रं विश्रमं यात्वतज्जये ॥६६॥ इदं महदनाल्येयं यत्प्राज्ञो बन्धुवत्सलः। स बाहुबलिसाह्वोऽपि भजते विकृति कृती ॥६७॥ प्रबाहुबलिनानन राजकेन नतेन किम् । नगरेण गरेणेव भुक्तेनापोदनेन किम् ॥६॥ कि किडकरैः करालास्त्रप्रतिनिजित शात्रवः । अनाज्ञावशमेतस्मिन् नवविक्रमशालिनि ॥६६॥ कि वा सुरभटरेभिः उद्भटारभटीरसः । मयैवमसमां स्पर्द्धा तस्मिन्कर्वति गर्विते ॥७॥ इति जल्पति संरम्भाच्चक्रपाणावपक्रमम् । तस्योपचक्रमे कर्तुं पुनरित्थं पुरोहितः ॥७१॥ जितजेतव्यतां देव घोषयन्नपि कि मुधा । जितोऽसि क्रोधवेगेन प्राग्जय्यो वशिनां हि सः ॥७२॥ बालास्ते बालभावेन विलसन्त्वपथेऽप्यलम् । देवे जितारिषडवर्गे न तमः स्थातुमर्हति ॥७३॥ क्रोधान्धतमसे मग्नं यो नात्मानं समुद्धरेत् । स कृत्यसंशयद्वधानोत्तरीतुमलन्तराम् ॥७४॥ कि तरां स विजानाति कार्याकार्यमनात्मवित् । यः स्वान्तःप्रभवान् जेतुम् अरीन प्रभवेत्प्रभुः ॥७॥ तद्देव विरमामुष्मात् संरम्भादपकारिणः । जितात्मानो जयन्ति मां क्षमया हि जिगीषवः ॥७६॥
हो सकता है ॥६५।। और किसी तरह उनके उपभोगके लिये मैं उन्हें यह पृथिवी नहीं दे सकता हूं। उन्हें जीते बिना यह चक्ररत्न किस प्रकार विश्राम ले सकता है ? ॥६६॥ यह बड़ी निन्दाकी बात है कि जो अतिशय बुद्धिमान् है, भाइयोंमें प्रेम रखने वाला है, और कार्यकुशल है वह बाहुबली भी विकारको प्राप्त हो रहा है ॥६७।। बाहुबलीको छोड़कर अन्य सब राजपुत्रोंने नमस्कार भी किया तो उससे क्या लाभ है और पोदनपुरके बिना विषके समान इस नगरका उपभोग भी किया तो क्या हुआ ॥६८॥ जो नवीन पराक्रमसे शोभायमान बाहुबली हमारी आज्ञाके वश नहीं हुआ तो भयंकर शस्त्रोंसे शत्रुओंका तिरस्कार करनेवाले सेवकोंसे क्या प्रयोजन है ? ॥६९॥ अथवा अहंकारी बाहुबली जब इस प्रकार मेरे साथ अयोग्य ईर्ष्या कर रहा है तब अतिशय शूरवीरतारूप रसको धारण करनेवाले मेरे इन देवरूप योद्धाओं से क्या प्रयोजन है ? ॥७०॥ इस प्रकार जब चक्रवर्ती क्रोधसे बहुत बढ़ बढ़कर बातचीत
तब पुरोहितने उन्हें शान्त कर उपायपूर्वक कार्य प्रारम्भ करनेके लिये नीचे लिखे अनुसार उद्योग किया ॥७१॥ हे देव, मैंने जीतने योग्य सबको जीत लिया है ऐसी घोषणा करते हुए भी आप क्रोधके वेगसे व्यर्थ ही क्यों जीते गये ? जितेन्द्रिय पुरुषोंको तो क्रोधका वेग पहले ही जीतना चाहिये ॥७२।। वे आपके भाई बालक हैं इसलिये अपने बालस्वभाव से कुमार्गमें भी अपने इच्छानुसार क्रीड़ा कर सकते हैं परन्तु जिसने काम, क्रोध, लोभ, मोह, मद और मात्सर्य इन छहों अन्तरङ्ग शत्रुओंको जीत लिया है ऐसे आपमें यह अन्धकार ठहरने के योग्य नहीं है अर्थात् आपको क्रोध नहीं करना चाहिये ॥७३॥ जो मनुष्य क्रोधरूपी गाढ़ अन्धकारमें डूबे हुए अपने आत्माका उद्धार नहीं करता वह कार्यके संशयरूपी द्विविधासे पार होने के लिये समर्थ नहीं है। भावार्थ-क्रोधसे कार्यकी सिद्धि होने में सदा सन्देह बना रहता है ॥७४॥ जो राजा अपने अन्तरङ्गसे उत्पन्न होनेवाले शत्रुओंको जीतनेके लिये समर्थ नहीं है वह अपने आत्माको नहीं जाननेवाला कार्य और अकार्यको कैसे जान सकता है ? ॥७५॥ इसलिये हे देव, अपकार करनेवाले इस क्रोधसे दूर रहिये क्योंकि जीतकी इच्छा रखनेवाले जिते

What is the use of enjoying this city like poison without Podanpur? 68. What is the use of the fierce warriors who are ready to use their terrible weapons if the mighty, who is shining with new valor, does not submit to our command? 69. Or, what is the use of my valiant warriors who are filled with the essence of great heroism, when the arrogant mighty is competing with me in this way? 70. Thus, when the Chakravarti was speaking with great anger, the Purohit calmed him down and started to work out a plan to begin the task as follows. 71. O Lord, even though you have declared that you have conquered all those who are worthy of being conquered, why are you still being conquered by the force of anger? The one who has conquered the senses should have conquered the force of anger long ago. 72. They are your brothers, children, so they can play according to their childish nature even on the wrong path. But this darkness should not stay in you who has conquered the six internal enemies: lust, anger, greed, delusion, pride, and jealousy. In other words, you should not be angry. 73. The person who is immersed in the darkness of anger and does not liberate his soul is not capable of crossing the duality of doubt about his actions. Meaning: There is always doubt about the success of an action due to anger. 74. How can a king who is not capable of conquering the enemies born from his own mind know what is right and wrong, if he does not know his own soul? 75. Therefore, O Lord, stay away from this anger that harms you, because those who desire victory conquer by forgiveness. 76.
