Thirty-first Chapter
103
The king had deployed valiant warriors to protect the feet of the elephants. They were engaged in battle with the Kshatriyas, and they were also the protectors of the elephants. || 74 || The valiant warriors, who were also fighting with the kings, were appointed as commanders of the infantry. The cavalry, adorned with armor and banners, were like the flow of a river. || 75 || Many kings were deploying their armies, well-organized in formations of Danda, Mandala, Bhoga, and Asanhrita. || 76 || What opportunity is there for this Chakravarti, which we, being insignificant, can even remember, let alone achieve? This is our devotion at this time, to follow our master. || 77 || The opportunity for our master is auspicious. We should spread our wealth of fame, drive away the enemy forces, embrace our duty as men, see various countries, and obtain the blessings of victory. Thus, the warriors were conversing with each other, using praiseworthy examples. || 78-79 || This is a difficult mountain to cross, and there are large rivers in between. Considering these obstacles, many thought it best not to go forward. || 80 || Thus, with various emotions and mutual conversations, those who had quickly risen and set out, reached the camp of the Chakravarti, along with their respective masters. || 81 ||
