Thirty-first Parva
202. He [Bharata] worshipped the Chakra-ratna with gandha, pushpa, dhoop, deep, jala, akshata, phala, and divine offerings. ||53||
His victory-effort, though he had conquered Vijayardha-parvata, was not slackened, for he was eager to conquer the northern part. ||54||
Then, going back a little, he encamped near the western cave of the silver mountain, having surrounded the forest with his army. ||55||
To the south of that mountain-king, between the mountain-altar and the forest-altar, outside the forest on the bank of the Sindhu river, the army of the king was encamped. ||56||
There is much to be seen in this earth-holder, full of many wonders. Thinking thus, the king stayed there for a long time. ||57||
Even though he stayed there for a long time, he did not incur any expense, but on the contrary, he was filled like the ocean with the gains of unprecedented things. ||58||
Hearing that he was staying there, many kings from the earth, dwelling in the middle of the Ganga and Sindhu rivers, came to see him. ||59||
With their heads bowed from afar, their hands clasped, they bowed down, showing their devotion to the king. ||60||
Those kings, with devotion, honored the king with kesara, aguru, kapura, suvarna, moti, ratna, and other things. ||61||
Who can determine the extent of the jewels that entered his treasury, which was constantly being filled from all sides with heaps of wealth? ||62||
The rulers of the countries, with their armies well-protected by the army-chiefs, served him for a long time with yavase-indhana, food, and other things. ||63||
Hearing that the king was engaged in conquering the northern part from Vijayardha-parvata, the kings of the Kuru country, Jayakumar, etc., came with all their forces. ||64||
