Having heard the unprecedented, arising, echoing, powerful sound of the army, the wild animals living in the forest were greatly terrified and distressed. ||22|| A white elephant, whose body was like that of Airavata, whose limbs were perfectly proportioned, and who was roaring sweetly, emerged from the forest due to the commotion of the army, looking very beautiful. ||23|| As if a lion, yawning after waking up, was opening its mouth, showing that he had no fear within, "See whatever you want to see." ||24|| The eight-legged creature jumped up with great speed, fell headfirst, but due to the skill of the creator (karma), it stood up straight on its back legs, unharmed. ||25|| The army saw a fearless buffalo, whose shoulders were rubbed against stones, whose eyes were slightly red with anger, and who was digging the earth with his hooves. ||26|| Small animals, whose fear was arising from the sound of the army, were taking refuge in the caves of the Vijayardha mountain, like in the time of destruction. Meaning: Just as living beings hide in the caves of Vijayardha during the time of destruction, so too at that time, many living beings hid in the caves of Vijayardha out of fear of the sound of the army. ||27|| The frightened deer, with their young running behind them, were fleeing in all directions, their bodies trembling, as if they were drenched in the juice of fear. ||28|| The boars, abandoning their love for their excellent food, were running here and there, their herds scattered, due to the commotion of the army. ||29|| Many other elephants, fleeing in fear, hid in places covered with trees, and the deer hid in the caves of the lions. ||30||
