PREFACE
It was after 13 formes of this part were printed that I was supplied by the publisher with a Ms. belonging to the Dehla Bhandar of Ahmedabad which gave me some relief. This is the very Ms. which is here referred to as Ca. This will explain the lot of inconvenience I had to undergo in compiling the presscopy. Over and above this, unfortunately, not only was Śrī Ānandasāgarasuri unable to go through my press-copy but also he could not assist me even by examining the revised proofs; for, this sort of valuable assistance was available only up to the printing of 30 formes. For the rest of the work I was obliged to solicit help from two or three Munis out of whom Śrī Caturavijaya deserves to be specially mentioned as he has favoured me by going through the revised proofs of Sanskrit Introduction and a major part of the portions appended to the text.
Before concluding, I may gladly record my repeated thanks and gratitude to Śrī Ānandasāgarasūri, an erudite scholar of Jainism, without whose willing and valuable co-operation it would have been indeed extremely difficult for me to complete this work, I shall be failing in my duty if I did not cordially thank Nyāya-tirtha Nyāyāvis'ārada Upadhyāya Śrī. Mangala. vijava who has exerted himself not only in removing the discrepancies which must have crept in this work owing to my inefficiency, by preparing the errata, but also has furnished the reader with different readings by comparing the printed formes with the Ms. in his possession, here designated as Cha. Furthermore, I may offer my heartiest congratulations to the publisher for the service he has rendered to the cause of Jainism by undertaking the publication of this gigantic work of immense value. In the end, I may avail myself of the present opportunity to acknowledge my indebtedness to Pandit Sukhalal as well as other authors whose works may have been useful to me in preparing the Introductions.
