________________ Introduction of Pavanavega and Sammata, the king and queen of Suvarṇamañjarī province on the southern range of the Vedikardha mountain. She is different from Prabhavati, the daughter of Pingalagandhāra and Amitaprabha, the king and queen of Puskalavati. To guard against possible confusion, Dharmasena has made Prabhavati advance to V. an emphatic clarification. It was the second Prabhavati who appeared under the disguise of a young Käpälika at the Kosthaka park festival and who acquired Mahārohini Vidya at V.'s sight (VHM p. 25-28) 5 The number of girls acquired as v.ves by Naravahanadatta (Vasudeva)4 In the twentynine Lambhas of VH. we have an account of twentynine girls (if we include Priyadarśana also of one of the lost Lambhas) won as wives by Vasudeva. According to BKS'S (5,50) Naravahanadatta was destined to marry twentysix wives. KSS (114,5) gives a total of twentyfive, though in the body of the work we meet twentythree only fif we exclude the four Apsarases). So also Kṣemendra. JHP narrates the account of twentysix acquisitions plus five hundred more (32, 19-37). VHM, adding seventyone acquisitions to the twentynine of VH achieves a total of one hundred. GUP (70, 305-306) raises the score to seven hundred. 3. सहसा मया भणिता तीर व रामबहराए नि भगत-ना प्रभावति ति । 71 Among the extra names of girls won by Vasudeva मंत्रीपुषी, जराकुमारी, अवन्तिसुन्दरी, शूरसेना and पुरुषद्वेषिणी (जीवदयश) are common between JHP and (3 TSP, and BB also shares the last four. Bar corresponds to of VH and पयो of JHP and TSP corresponds to पद्मावती of VH. मुकोस्ला of TSP (VIII 2) and faga of JHP, TSP and BB are possibly the same as सुकोसला and दिन (XVIII ) respectively of VHM. पुरुषद्वेषिणी is perhaps the same as in the Visamasila-lamabka (KSS 122, 40110, BKM 10, 165-166). Jain Education International अन्ना पिंगल गंधारसुना प्रभावती ? अन्नाय तुम ? ति । पिंगल गंधार या प्राणामि, अह खु पणजय मुता -VHM. p. 39. . 4. Mayrhofer, p. 167-168. 5. Devarüpa, Devarati, Devamala and Devapriya according to KSS 54, 75. cf. BKM 15,199. 6. guapafqft (JHp 31,8) is erroneous. For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
