sonantal stems that show the future marker -iha- instead of -ihu- or -eham because the scribal carelessness relates to the exchange of i and i in several other cases also.
Forms with -issa- as the future marker : I sing.: कारस्सामि 14.3, उम्पाइस्सामि 187.27, णिवेदयिस्सामि 193 260. I plu : जोहहस्सामो, संतरिस्सामो III sing. : भविस्सदि 125,27, III plu. भविस्स ति 5221, गमिस्सति 5.15.
Imperative Forms :
Besides the usual form-types, e.g. II sing : उट्ठ, कट, अच्छ, कहय
मा रोध, मुरसु, वाहरमु, अणुभवसु, मा भायसु, मा बाघसु. उठेहि, होहि, कहेहि, घडेहि, णेधि.
II plu. : सुणध, तुरष, भायध, गणध, सण्णध, जागह, णिहणह, पातेह, छड्डेह,
we have forms with stems ending in -ā-, e.g. II sing. ; gearle, सुवाहि, जाणाहि, आरुहाहि, घोवाहि, पुच्छाहि, गिहाहि, मिलादि, उप्पयाहि, मच्छाहि, आगच्छाहि, णिसीयाहि, मा घादयाहि.
II plu. : गिव्हाह. In the third person we have also forms in-du (sing.) : पविसिज्जादु 65.5, भणिज्जः (metri cause) 6.5, खुभिज्जदु 232.5, हेाजदु 2326..
• छिवे 167.24 and करे 180.21 (III sing) are old forms. Potential Forms:
They are quite frequent. The Second Person forms are used at times in a future imperative sense and the other forms are used to express future possibility. In the following passage we find present and future forins used in a potential or injunctive sense.
. भगवं! हाज्जा है जम-जीगो? तेहिं भणिय सवय ! हे।हिसि तुम जोगगो संजमस्स, किंतु सपण ताव पवयसि । मया भणिय-कीस ण पश्यामि ? तुम सपय... चिंतेसि किह नाम पुत्तं चित्तरहं रज्जे ठविज्जामि | एएण कारणेण न पश्यसि । 202.16-20
