જણાયેલા શ્રાવક-શ્રાવિકાઓને હિતશિક્ષા અને પ્રેરણા કરતા પત્રોનું લેખન, પુત્ર સૂરિદેવ પર શાસનના કાર્યો અંગે વિધ-વિધ સૂચનો, પોતાની સમતા અને સમાધિ અકબંધ રહે એવું અદ્ભુત આયોજન, સમાધિ પ્રબળ સહાયક એવું પોતાના ગુરુદેવનાં પ્રવચનોનું નિયમિત કલાકો સુધીનું વાંચન, એના ઉપયોગી અંશોની નોંધ કરી પુત્ર સૂરિવરને પ્રકાશનાર્થે ભલામણ, તપસ્વી મુનિવરોની ઉપબૃહણા અને કાળજી, દૂર સુદૂર રહેલા સાધ્વી સંઘના યોગક્ષેમની ભલામણ જેવાં અઢળક આત્મ હિતકર કાર્યોમાં તેઓ કર્તવ્યનિષ્ઠ બન્યા રહ્યા.
ચિકિત્સકો આવતા તો ચિકિત્સા કરવા દેતા. પરંતુ ચિકિત્સકને કહેતા કે, મારી સમાધિ માટે સહયોગ આપું છું, તમે મારી દ્રવ્ય ચિકિત્સા કરો છો, હું તમારી ભાવ ચિકિત્સા કરવા ઈચ્છું છું. તમે તમારી લાડ ક્યારે મારા હાથમાં આપો છો ? અહીં ક્યારે આવો છો ?' આ એમની કરુણા હતી. કરુણાની સરિતા વહેતી વહેતી હવે ખળખળ ગંગા બની હવે મહાસાગરમાં ભળવા અધીરી થઈ રહી હતી.
અંતિમ દિવસ પણ આવી ગયો. આજે પણ સૂરિજીએ રાત્રે અઢી વાગ્યાથી પાંચ વાગ્યાનો નિત્ય જાપ પૂર્ણ કર્યો. પ્રાભાતિક સ્મરણો ગણ્યાં. પ્રભુજી પધાર્યા તો ઊભા થઈ વિનય કર્યો. પ્રભુજીને પ્રદક્ષિણા આપી. ઊભાં ઊભાં દેવવંદન કર્યું. ખમાસમણાં પૂંજીને પ્રમાર્જીને જ આપ્યાં. સમ્યગ્દર્શન પુસ્તકનો સ્વાધ્યાય કર્યો. વ્યાખ્યાનમાં જવાની ભાવના વ્યક્ત કરી. પુત્ર સૂરિજીને વ્યાખ્યાનમાં જતાં અને વ્યાખ્યાન કરીને આવ્યા બાદ બે હાથ માથે મૂકીને આશીર્વાદ આપ્યા. હિત વચનો લખી આપ્યાં.
બાર, સાડી બાર સુધી સમ્યગ્દર્શન' વાંચતા રહ્યા. પછી અચાનક વાગ્યે વળાંક લીધો. પ્રેશર વધ્યું. પુત્રસૂરિદેવ તરત આવી ગયા. પરિસ્થિતિને જાણીને ઉપચાર કરાયા. ઉપચાર કારગત ન નીવડતાં સમાધિમાં સહાયક પદોનું શ્રવણ કરાવાયું. પોતાના પૂ. ગુરુદેવ જે અરિહંત પદ સાથે અનુસંધાન સાધી મુક્તિની દિશામાં પ્રયાણ કરી ગયા હતા. તે જ અરિહંત પદ સાથે અનુસંધાન સાધ્યું. ‘અરિહંતે સરણે પવજ્જામિ' ના નાદમાં એકતાન બન્યા. વચ્ચે વચ્ચે શ્રી શંખેશ્વર પાર્શ્વનાથ પ્રભુ અને શ્રી નેમિનાથ પ્રભુની પ્રતિકૃતિનાં દર્શન કરતાં પલકો નમાવી દર્શન-વંદન કર્યા. ‘ગુરુદેવ ! આપ જાગૃત છો ? જીવનભર કરેલી આરાધનાને સાર્થક કરવાનો હવે અવસર આવી ગયો છે વગેરે પ્રશ્નો પૂછાતાં પોતાના હાથના આંગળાથી અજપાજપ ચાલુ હોવાનું સૂચન કર્યું. પાટીયાથી પવન નાખવાનો પ્રયત્ન થતાં બે વાર સૂચના કરી વિરાધના થતી અટકાવી. ખૂબ જ સમતાભર્યા ચિત્તે, સહજ સમાધિમાં લીન થઈને બપોરે ૩-૨૦ના સમયે તેઓ કાળધર્મને પામ્યા. આસો વદ ૪ ગુરુવારનો એ દિવસ હતો. પુત્ર-શિષ્ય સૂરિજીનો એક હાથ એમના મસ્તક પર હતો અને બીજો હાથ ગુરુદેવના હાથમાં હતો. એઓશ્રીના કાળધર્મના સમાચારે સૌના હદયનો ધબકાર ચુકાયો. આઘાતનો પાર ન
