सचित्र उत्तराध्ययन सूत्र in
In the same way, a person who leaves this world without following religious conduct, suffers from diseases and the like (during next birth). (20)
अद्धाणं जो महन्तं तु, सपाहेओ पवज्जई।
गच्छन्तो सो सुही होइ, छुहा-तण्हाविवज्जिओ॥२१॥ जो व्यक्ति पाथेय (मार्ग का संबल) साथ लेकर लम्बे मार्ग पर प्रयाण करता है वह भूख-प्यास से पीड़ित न होकर सुखी होता है॥ २१॥
A person, who starts on a long journey taking provisions with him, remains happy and does not suffer from hunger and thirst. (21) .
एवं धम्म पि काऊणं, जो गच्छइ परं भवं।
गच्छन्तो सो सुही होइ, अप्पकम्मे अवेयणे॥२२॥ इसी प्रकार जो मानव धर्म करके परलोक को प्रयाण करता है वह अल्पकर्मा जीव वेदना से रहित होकर सुखी होता है॥ २२॥
In the same way, a person who leaves this world after observing religious conduct is free of pain and happy because of the meager load of karmas. (22)
जहा गेहे पलित्तम्मि, तस्स गेहस्स जो पह।
सारभण्डाणि नीणेइ, असारं अवउज्झइ ॥ २३॥ जैसे घर में अग्नि का प्रकोप हो जाने-आग लग जाने पर घर का स्वामी पहले मूल्यवान सार वस्तुओं को बाहर निकालता है और निस्सार वस्तुओं को छोड़ देता है॥ २३॥
When a house is on fire, the owner first of all takes out valuable vital things and leaves behind worthless things. (23)
एवं लोए पलित्तम्मि, जराए मरणेण य।
अप्पाणं तारइस्साम, तुब्भेहिं अणुमन्निओ॥२४॥ इसी तरह मैं भी (हे माता-पिता !) आपकी अनुमति पाकर वृद्धत्व और मृत्यु से जलते हुये इस संसार में से सारभूत अपनी आत्मा को निकालना चाहता हूँ॥ २४॥
In the same way, with your consent, (O parents!), I want to take out my most v thing, the soul, from the world burning in flames of dotage and death. (24)
तं बिंत ऽम्मापियरो, सामण्णं पुत्त ! दुच्चरं।
गुणाणं तु सहस्साइं, धारेयव्वाइं भिक्खुणो॥२५॥ (माता-पिता) माता-पिता ने तब मृगापुत्र से कहा-हे पुत्र! श्रमण धर्म का पालन अति कठिन है। उसमें हजारों गुण-नियमोपनियम भिक्षु को धारण करने पड़ते हैं॥ २५ ॥
The parents then said to Mrigaputra-O son! It is very difficult to practise asceticconduct. An ascetic has to accept thousands of attributes (rules and regulations). (25)
