एकोनविंश अध्ययन [ 228]
समया सव्वभूएसु, सत्तु मित्तेसु वा जगे।
पाणाइवायविरई, जावज्जीवाए दुक्करं ॥२६॥ संसार के सभी जीवों पर, चाहे वे शत्रु हों अथवा मित्र, समभाव रखना और आजीवन प्राणातिपातहिंसा से विरत होना अत्यन्त दुष्कर है॥ २६ ॥
It is extremely difficult to harbour feelings of equality for all beings, may they be friends or foes, and not to harm any life-force (praan) of any living being throughout life. (26)
निच्चकालऽप्पमत्तेणं, मुसावायविवज्जणं।
भासियव्वं हियं सच्चं, निच्चाउत्तेण दुक्करं ॥२७॥ सदैव अप्रमत्त रहकर मृषावाद का त्याग करना तथा सतत उपयोग के साथ हितकारी सत्य बोलना बहुत कठिन है॥ २७॥
It is very difficult to be ever alert in order to abandon falsehood and speak truth that is beneficent. (27)
दन्त-सोहणमाइस्स, अदत्तस्स विवज्जणं। .
अणवज्जेसणिज्जस्स, गेण्हणा अवि दुक्करं ॥२८॥ दंत शोधन (दतौन) भी बिना दिये न लेना तथा दिया हुआ भी निर्दोष और एषणीय ही लेना अत्यधिक दुष्कर है॥ २८॥
It is almost impossible to avoid taking, without being given, anything even as insignificant as teeth cleaning stick; and it is also very difficult to take only what is acceptable (faultless) even when given. (28)
विरई अबम्भचेरस्स, कामभोगरसन्नुणा। ।
उग्गं महव्वयं बम्भं, धारेयव्वं सुदुक्करं ॥२९॥ कामभोगों के रसों-स्वादों को जानने वाले व्यक्ति के लिये अब्रह्मचर्य से विरति और उग्र महाव्रत ब्रह्मचर्य का पालन करना अत्यधिक कठिन है॥ २९ ॥
For him who has tasted carnal pleasures, it is very difficult to completely abstain from non-celibacy and to observe the tough great-vow of celibacy. (29)
धण-धन्न-पेसवग्गेसु, परिग्गहविवज्जणं।
सव्वारम्भपरिच्चाओ, निम्ममत्तं सुदुक्करं ॥३०॥ धन-धान्य, प्रेष्य-सेवक वर्ग तथा परिग्रह का एवं सर्व आरम्भ का परित्याग और ममत्वरहित होना बहुत ही कठिन है॥ ३०॥
It is very difficult to renounce wealth, grains, servants, covetousness and all sinful activities as well as to become free of fondness. (30)
चउविहे वि आहारे, राईभोयणवज्जणा। सन्निहीसंचओ चेव, वज्जेयव्वो सुदुक्करो॥३१॥
