सचित्र उत्तराध्ययन सूत्र
This ascetic possesses great fame and power. He observes rigorous austerities. He is highly valorous. He should not be neglected or ill treated lest he consumes you all by his fire of austerities. (23)
एयाइं तीसे वयणाइ सोच्चा, पत्तीइ भद्दाइ सुहासियाई।
इसिस्स वेयावडियट्ठयाए, जक्खा कुमारे विणिवारयन्ति ॥२४॥ रुद्रदेव पुरोहित की पत्नी भद्रा के इन सुन्दर वचनों को सुनकर ऋषि हरिकेशबल की सेवा करने वाले यक्षों ने भी उन विप्र कुमारों को रोकने का प्रयत्न किया ॥ २४ ॥
Hearing these sweet words of Bhadraa, wife of the chief priest Rudradeva, the attendant yakshas (a kind of divine beings) of ascetic Harikesh-bala, also tried to stop the Brahmin youngsters. (24)
ते घोररूवा ठिय अन्तलिक्खे, असुरा तहिं तं जणं तालयन्ति।
ते भिन्नदेहे रुहिरं वमन्ते, पासित्तु भद्दा इणमाहु भुज्जो-॥२५॥ आकाश में स्थित भयंकर रूप और असुरभाव वाले यक्ष उन कुमारों को प्रताड़ित करने लगे। उन अदृश्य प्रहारों से विप्रकुमारों के क्षत-विक्षत शरीर और उन्हें रक्त-वमन करते हुये देखकर भद्रा ने पुनः कहा- ॥ २५ ॥
Yakshas having ferocious appearance and evil attitude lurking in the sky started tormenting those youngsters. Seeing the bodies of the Brahmin youngsters wounded by invisible blows and vomiting blood, Bhadraa spoke again-(25)
गिरि नहेहिं खणह, अयं दन्तेहिं खायह।
जायतेयं पाएहिं हणह, जे भिक्खं अवमन्नह॥२६॥ जो लोग साधु का अपमान करते हैं, वे नाखूनों से पर्वत खोदते हैं, दाँतों से लोहा खाते हैं, पैरों से अग्नि को कुचलते हैं.॥ २६ ॥
Those who insult an ascetic, they dig the mountain by nails, cut iron by teeth, vanquish fire by bare feet. (26)
आसीविसो उग्गतवो महेसी, घोरव्वओ घोरपरक्कमो य।
अगणिं व पक्खन्द पयंगसेणा, जे भिक्खुयं भत्तकाले वहेह॥२७॥ ये महर्षि आशीविष (लब्धि-सम्पन्न) हैं, उग्र तपस्वी, घोर व्रती और महापराक्रमी हैं। जो व्यक्ति भिक्षा के समय भिक्षु को व्यथित करते हैं; वे पतंगों के समान अग्नि में कूदते हैं॥ २७॥
This great ascetic has venomous fangs (endowed with divine powers), observer of rigorous austerities, resolute in vows and highly valorous. Those who torment an almsseeking ascetic fall in fire, like moths. (27)
सीसेण एवं सरणं उवेह, समागया सव्वजणेण तुब्भे। जइ इच्छह जीवियं वा धणं वा, लोगं पि ऐसो कुविओ डहेज्जा ॥२८॥
