सचित्र उत्तराध्ययन सूत्र
वियरिज्जइ खज्जइ भुज्जई य, अन्नं पभूयं भवयाणमेयं । जाणाहि मे जायणजीविणु त्ति, सेसावसेसं लभऊ तवस्सी ॥ १० ॥ यहाँ प्रचुर आहार दिया जा रहा है, खाया जा रहा है, उपभोग किया जा रहा है। आप यह निश्चित जानिये कि मैं भिक्षाजीवी हूँ । अतः बचे हुये आहार में से कुछ तपस्वी को भी मिल जाए॥ १० ॥
Here plenty of food is being given, eaten and consumed. I assure you that I subsist only on alms. Therefore, please let the ascetic get some food out of the leftovers. (10) उवक्खड भोयण माहणाणं, अत्तट्ठियं सिद्धमिहेगपक्खं । नऊ वयं एरिसमन्न-पाणं, दाहासु तुज्झं किमिहं ठिओ सि ? ॥ ११ ॥

( याज्ञिक प्रमुख रुद्रदेव ) - यहाँ बनाया हुआ, यह भोजन केवल ब्राह्मणों के अपने लिये है, एकपक्षीय है, अतः दूसरों को नहीं दिया जा सकता। हम तुम्हें इसमें से भोजन नहीं देंगे। फिर तुम यहाँ क्यों खड़े हो? ॥ ११॥
(Rudradeva, the head priest of the yajna-) The food prepared here is for Brahmins food and exclusively for us. As such, it cannot be given to others. We will not give any to you from this. Then why are you standing here? ( 11 )
थलेसु बीयाइ ववन्ति कासगा, तहेव निन्नेसु य आससाए । एयाए सद्धाए दलाह मज्झं, आराहए पुण्णमिणं खु खेत्तं ॥ १२ ॥
(मुनि शरीर में प्रविष्ट यक्ष) - उत्तम फसल की आशा से कृषक जैसे ऊँची भूमि में बीज बोता है, उसी प्रकार नीची भूमि में भी बोता है। इसी श्रद्धा से मुझे भोजन देकर इस पुण्य क्षेत्र की आराधना अवश्य कर लो ॥ १२ ॥
(The yaksha in the body of the ascetic -) Farmers with the hope of high yield sow seeds on higher ground and lower ground alike. With the same belief, by giving me food you must propitiate (cultivate) this (lower) field too to gain merit. (12)
खेत्ताणि अम्हं विइयाणि लोए, जहिं पकिण्णा विरुहन्ति पुण्णा ।
जे महणा जाइ - विज्जोववेया, ताइं तु खेत्ताइं सुपेसलाई ॥ १३ ॥
(रुद्रदेव ) - संसार में हमें ऐसे क्षेत्र ज्ञात हैं, जिनमें बोया हुआ बीज पूर्ण रूप से उग आता है और ऐसे पुण्य क्षेत्र जाति तथा विद्या से संपन्न ब्राह्मण ही हैं ॥ १३ ॥
(Rudradeva -) We are well aware of such areas in the world where sown seed fully grows. Such meritorious areas are Brahmins only, who are of high birth and endowed with learning. (13)
कोहो य माणो य वहो य जेसिं, मोसं अदत्तं च परिग्गहं च ।
ते माहणा जाइविज्जाविहूणा, ताइं तु खेत्ताइं सुपावयाई ॥ १४ ॥
(यक्ष) - जिनके जीवन में क्रोध, मान, हिंसा, असत्य, परिग्रह आदि दुर्गुणों का समावेश है वे ब्राह्मण होते हुए भी विद्या और जाति से हीन हैं, वे पाप क्षेत्र हैं ॥ १४ ॥
