O Kshatriya! Organize an elaborate yajna (religious sacrifice according to Vedic tradition), feed Shramans (ascetics) and Brahmins, give alms to them, enjoy the ceremonies and perform yajna yourself and then only become an ascetic. (38)
एयमलृ निसामित्ता, हेऊकारण-चोइओ।
तओ नमी रायरिसी, देविन्दं इणमब्बवी-॥३९॥ इन्द्र के इस कथन को सुन और हेतु-कारण से प्रेरित नमि राजर्षि ने इन्द्र से कहा- ॥ ३९ ॥
Hearing these words from Indra and stirred by logic and reason sage Nami answered to Indra thus-(39)
'जो सहस्सं सहस्साणं, मासे मासे गवं दए।
तस्सावि संजमो सेओ, अदिन्तस्स वि किंचण'॥४०॥ जो मानव प्रति मास दस लाख गायें दान देता है उसके लिये भी संयम श्रेयस्कर है-कल्याणकारी है, चाहे वह कुछ भी दान न दे॥ ४०॥
As compared to one who donates thousands and thousands of cows every month, he who observes restrain is, indeed, superior even though he has nothing to donate. (40)
एयमलृ निसामित्ता, हेऊकारण-चोइओ।
तओ नमिं रायरिसिं, देविन्दो इणमब्बवी-॥४१॥ राजर्षि के इस अर्थ को सुनकर, हेतु-कारण से प्रेरित देवेन्द्र ने नमि राजर्षि से कहा- ॥ ४१ ॥
Hearing sage Nami's answer, the king of gods, on the basis of his reason and logic, spoke thus to the sage-(41)
'घोरासमं चइत्ताणं, अन्नं पत्थेसि आसमं।
इहेव पोसहरओ, भवाहि मणवाहिवा!'॥४२॥ हे नराधिप! तुम घोराश्रम-गृहस्थाश्रम को छोड़कर अन्य आश्रम (संन्यास) की इच्छा कर रहे हो (यह अनुचित है)। इसी गृहस्थाश्रम में रहकर पोषधरत हो जाओ॥ ४२ ॥
Renouncing the most difficult life-order (life as a householder), you wish to enter another life-order (ascetic life), (which is not proper for you). Remain a householder and observe the partial-ascetic vow (paushadha). (42)
एयमठे निसामित्ता, हेऊकारण-चोइओ।
तओ नमी रायरिसी, देविन्दं इणमब्बवी-॥४३॥ देवेन्द्र के इस कथन को सुन, हेतु-करण से प्रेरित नमि राजर्षि ने उससे कहा- ॥ ४३॥

'मासे मासे तु जो बालो, कुसग्गेणं तु भुंजए। न सो सुयक्खायधम्मस्स, कलं अग्घइ सोलसिं'॥४४॥
