Hearing sage Nami's answer, the king of gods, on the basis of his reason and logic, spoke thus to the sage- (27)
'आमोसे लोमहारे य, गंठिभेए य तक्करे ।
नगरस्स खेमं काऊणं, तओ गच्छसि खत्तिया !'॥२८॥ हे क्षत्रिय! तुम लुटेरों, प्राणघातक दस्युओं, हत्यारों, गिरहकटों और चोरों-तस्करों से नगर को सुरक्षित करके तदुपरान्त श्रमणत्व धारण कर लेना ॥ २८॥ ___O Kshatriya! First you secure your city against robbers, murdering dacoits, killers, pick-pockets, thieves and smugglers and then only get initiated. (28)
एयमलैं निसामित्ता, हेऊकारण-चोइओ।
तओ नमी रायरिसी, देविन्दं इणमब्बवी-॥२९॥ इन्द्र के इस कथन को सुन, हेतु-कारण से प्रेरित नमि राजर्षि ने देवेन्द्र से कहा- ॥ २९॥
Hearing these words from Indra and stirred by logic and reason sage Nami answered to Indra thus-(29)
'असइं तु मणुस्सेहिं, मिच्छादण्डो पजई।
अकारिणोऽत्थ बज्झन्ति, मुच्चई कारगो जणो'॥३०॥ मनुष्यों के द्वारा कई बार गलत दण्ड का भी प्रयोग किया जाता है। निर्दोष दण्डित हो जाते हैं और अपराधी साफ छूट जाते हैं॥ ३० ॥
Sometimes men employ punishment wrongly. Innocents are punished while the criminals cleanly escape. (30)
एयमढ़ निसामित्ता, हेऊकारण-चोइओ।
तओ नमिं रायरिसिं, देविन्दो इणमब्बवी-॥३१॥ इस उत्तर को सुन, हेतु-कारण से प्रेरित देवेन्द्र ने नमि राजर्षि से इस प्रकार कहा- ॥ ३१ ॥

'जे केई पत्थिवा तुब्भं, नाऽऽनमन्ति नराहिवा!
वसे ते ठावइत्ताणं, तओ गच्छसि खत्तिया!'॥३२॥ हे राजन् ! जो राजा तुम्हारे समक्ष झुकते नहीं, उन पर विजय प्राप्त करके वश में करो तब प्रव्रज्या ग्रहण कर लेना ॥ ३२॥
O King! First conquer the rulers who have still not submitted to you and then only get initiated. (32)
