9. [Q.] Bhante ! What is the structure (samsthaan) of the Upper World (Urdhva Lok- Kshetra Lok) ?
[Ans.] Gautam ! It is like the shape of an upturned Mridang (a two sided drum with bulging middle and unequal ends).
१०. [ प्र. ] लोए णं भंते ! किंसंठिए पन्नत्ते ?
[उ. ] गोयमा ! सुपइट्ठगसंठिए लोए पन्नत्ते, तं जहा हेट्ठा वित्थिपणे, मज्झे संखित्ते जहा सत्तमसए पढमे उद्देस जाव अंतं करे ।
१०. [प्र.] भगवन्! लोक का संस्थान (आकार) किस प्रकार का कहा है?
[उ.] गौतम ! लोक सुप्रतिष्ठक के आकार का है । यथा - वह नीचे विस्तीर्ण (चौड़ा) है,
मध्य में संक्षिप्त (संकीर्ण - संकड़ा) है, इत्यादि सातवें शतक के प्रथम उद्देशक के अनुसार समझना चाहिए। यावत् - उस लोक को उत्पन्न ज्ञान - दर्शन के धारक केवलज्ञानी जानते हैं, इसके पश्चात् वे सिद्ध होते हैं, यावत् समस्त दुःखों का अन्त करते हैं।
10. [Q.] Bhante ! What is the structure (samsthaan) of the Lok (universe) ?
[Ans.] It is like the shape of a supratishthit (an earthen pot of the shape of a wine glass). It is wide at the base with a gradual taper in the middle, as mentioned in the first lesson of the seventh chapter... and so on up to... Arhants, Jinas, Kevalis (synonyms of Tirthankar), endowed with perfect knowledge know this and finally they become Siddha (perfected)... and so on up to... end all miseries.
११. [ प्र.] अलोए णं भंते! किसंठिए पन्नत्ते ?
[ उ. ] गोयमा ! झुसिरगोलसंठिए पन्नत्ते ?.
११. [प्र.] भगवन्! अलोक का संस्थान (आकार) कैसा है ?
[उ.] गौतम! अलोक का संस्थान पोले गोले के समान है।
11. [Q.] Bhante ! What is the structure (samsthaan) of the Alok (unoccupied space or the space beyond the universe) ?
[Ans.] It is like the shape of a hollow sphere.
विवेचन - सुमेरु पर्वत के नीचे आठ प्रदेशी रुचक प्रदेश हैं, उसके निचले प्रतर के नीचे नौ सौ योजन

तक तिर्यग्लोक है, उसके आगे अधःस्थित होने से अधोलोक है, जो सात रज्जू से कुछ अधिक है तथा प्रदेश से नीचे और ऊपर ९००-९०० योजन तिरछा होने से तिर्यग्लोक है । तिर्यग्लोक के ऊपर देशोन भगवती सूत्र (४)
