(वनस्पतिकाल) तक रहता है। ( अर्थात् - ) इतने काल तक वह उसी में रहता है, इतने काल तक वह गति-आगति करता है।
35. [Q.] Bhante ! If that soul in Utpal takes rebirth as a plant - bodied being and then returns to be born again in Utpal, how long does it take? How long does it continue to move thus back and forth?
[Ans.] Gautam! In terms of rebirths it moves back and forth for a minimum of two rebirths and a maximum of infinite rebirths. In terms
of time it moves back and forth for a minimum of two Antarmuhurts and a maximum of infinite period (plant-period). For that period it remains and moves back and forth (in those states).
३६. [ प्र. ] से णं भंते ! उप्पलजीवे बेइंदियजीवे, बेइंदियजीवे पुणरवि उप्पलजीवे त्ति haइयं कालं सेवेज्जा ? केवइयं कालं गइरागई करेज्जा ?
[उ. ] गोयमा ! भवादेसेणं जहन्नेणं दो भवग्गहणाई, उक्कोसेणं संखेज्जाइं भवग्गहणाई । कालाएसेणं जहन्नेणं दो अंतोमुहुत्ता, उक्कोसेणं संखेज्जं कालं । एवइयं कालं सेवेज्जा, एवइयं कालं गइरागई करेज्जा ।
३६. [प्र.] भगवन्! वह उत्पल का जीव, बेइन्द्रिय पर्याय में जाकर पुनः उत्पल जीव में आये (उत्पन्न हो), तो इसमें उसका कितना काल व्यतीत होता है? कितने काल तक गमनागमन करता है ?
[उ.] गौतम ! वह जीव भवादेश से जघन्य दो भव ग्रहण करता है, उत्कृष्ट संख्यात भव ग्रहण करता है। कालादेश से जघन्य दो अन्तर्मुहूर्त, उत्कृष्ट संख्यात काल व्यतीत हो जाता है । अर्थात् इतने काल तक वह उसमें रहता है। इतने काल तक वह गति - आगति करता है ।

[Ans.] Gautam! In terms of rebirths it moves back and forth for a minimum of two rebirths and a maximum of countable rebirths. In terms of time it moves back and forth for a minimum of two Antarmuhurts and a maximum of countable period. For that period it remains and moves back and forth (in those states).
३७. एवं तेइंदियजीवे, एवं चउरिंदियजीवे वि ।
[३७] इसी प्रकार तेइन्द्रिय और चतुरिन्द्रिय जीव के विषय में भी जानना चाहिए। 37. The same is also true for three and four sensed beings.
