6. [Q.] Bhante ! If those souls, born in Utpal, are removed one every Samaya then what period it would take to remove them all? [Ans.] Gautam ! Of the innumerable souls, if one is removed every Samaya they cannot be removed completely even if the act of continues for innumerable progressive and regressive cycles of time.

७. [ प्र.] तेसि णं भंते ! जीवाणं केमहालिया सरीरोगाहणा पण्णत्ता ?
[ उ. ] गोयमा! जहन्नेणं अंगुलस्स असंखेज्जइभागं, उक्कोसेणं साइरेगं जोयणसहस्सं । [ दारं ४]
७. [प्र.] हे भगवन् ! उन ( उत्पल के) जीवों की अवगाहना कितनी बड़ी कही गई है ?
[उ.] गौतम! उन जीवों की अवगाहना जघन्य अंगुल के असंख्यातवें भाग और उत्कृष्ट कुछ अधिक हजार योजन है।

7. [Q.] Bhante ! What is said to be space-occupation (avagaahana) of those beings (in Utpal) ?
[Ans.] Gautam ! The space-occupation (avagaahana) of those beings is a minimum of an immeasurable fraction of an Angul (a linear measure equal to the width of a finger) and a maximum of a little more than one thousand Yojans (a linear measure equal to eight miles). [-the fourth theme]

विवेचन - उत्पल जीवों की अवगाहना - अवगाहना का अर्थ है- ऊँचाई । उत्पल जीवों की अवगाहना जघन्य से अंगुल के असंख्यातवें भाग और उत्कृष्ट से कुछ अधिक हजार योजन है जो तथाविध समुद्र, गोतीर्थ आदि में उत्पन्न उत्पल की अपेक्षा से कही गई है। (१. भगवती, अ. वृत्ति, पत्र ५१२ )
Elaboration-Space occupation of beings in Utpal-Here avagaahana conveys height. The height of beings in Utpal is a minimum of an innumerable fraction of an Angul and a maximum of a little more than one thousand Yojans.
