योगशास्त्र प्रथम प्रकाश श्लोक १०
यह बाहुबली किसी भी तरह से आज्ञा मानने को तैयार होगा ? क्या सिंह अपनी पीठ पर पलाण का लादना सहन करता है?' भरत ऐसे विचारसागर में गोते लगा रहा था, तभी उसके सेनापति ने कहा - 'स्वामिन्! आपके पराक्रम के सामने | तीन जगत् भी तिनके के समान है।' भरत ने अपने सौतेले छोटे भाई बाहुबली की राजधानी में दूत भेजकर संदेश कहलवाया । चतुर दूत ने ऊँचे सिंहासन पर बैठे बाहुबलि को प्रणाम किया और भरतेश का संदेश युक्तिपूर्वक कह | सुनाया- 'राजन्! आप वास्तव में एक प्रशंसनीय व्यक्ति हैं, जिनके बड़े भाई जगत् को जीतने वाले, भरत के छह खंड के स्वामी और लोकोत्तर पराक्रमशाली है। आपके बड़े भाई के चक्रवर्तित्व के राज्याभिषेक - उत्सव में मंगलमय भेंट | लेकर और आज्ञाधीन बनकर कौन राजा नहीं आता ? अर्थात् प्रत्येक राजा आये हैं। सूर्योदय से जैसे कमलवन सुशोभायमान होता है, वैसे ही भरत का उदय आपकी ही शोभा के लिए है। परंतु हमें आश्चर्य होता है कि आप उनके | राज्याभिषेक में क्यों नहीं पधारे ? 'कुमार! आपके नहीं आने का कारण जानने के उद्देश्य से ही नीतिज्ञ राजा ने मुझे आपकी सेवा में पहुंचने की आज्ञा दी है; और इसी हेतु से मैं आपकी सेवा में उपस्थित हुआ हूँ। हो सकता है कि आप | स्वाभाविक रूप से नहीं पधारे हों; परंतु इतने बड़े उत्सव में एक लघुबंधु के नाते आपके न पधारने से कितने ही लोग | इसे आपकी अविनितता समझते हैं। क्योंकि नीच पुरुष सदा छिद्र ढूंढा करते हैं। हम चाहते हैं कि ऐसे नीच लोगों को बोलने की कतई गुंजाइश न रहे। इस बात पर आपको भलीभांति ध्यान देना चाहिए और पहले से ही इसका बचाव | करके चलना चाहिए। अतः आपसे हमारा नम्र निवेदन है कि आपको अपने बड़े भैया की सेवा में पधारना चाहिए। बड़ा भाई महाराजा होता है, उसकी उपासना करने में कौन-सी लज्जा की बात है? आप कदाचित् यह सोचकर नहीं पधारे कि मैं तो उनके बराबरी का भाई हूँ; कैसे जाऊँ? तो इससे आपकी धृष्टता ही प्रकट होगी। आज्ञापालक राजा नाते| रिश्तेदारी का खयाल नहीं रखते। लोहचुंबक के निकट रखते ही जैसे लोहा खिंचा चला आता है, वैसे ही भरतनरेश के तेज और पराक्रम से देव, दानव और मनुष्य सभी खिंचे चले आते हैं। वर्तमान में तो सभी राजा एकमात्र भरत का ही अनुसरण करते है। इंद्र महाराज भी उन्हें आधा आसन देकर उनसे मित्रता बांधे हुए हैं। फिर समझ में नहीं आता कि आप उनकी सेवा में जाने से क्यों पीछे हट रहे हैं? शायद आप अपने आपको अधिक वीर समझकर राजा की अवज्ञा कर रहे हैं, तो यह आपकी बड़ी भ्रांति होगी। उनकी सेना के सामने आपकी मुट्ठी भर सेना ऐसी लगती है, जैसे समुद्र | के सामने एक छोटा-सा नाला। और उनके पास ऐरावण जैसे चौरासी लाख हाथी है, जिन्हें जंगम पर्वत के समान चलायमान करने में कौन समर्थ है ? उतनी ही संख्या में घोड़े और रथ हैं, जिनका वेग प्रलयकालीन समुद्र के तूफान के समान है। उनके वेग को रोकने में भला कौन समर्थ है? फिर उस चक्रवर्ती के अधीन ९८ करोड़ गांव हैं और सिंह | के समान ९६ कोटि पैदल सेना है; जिनसे वह चाहे जिसको व्यथित कर सकता है तथा उनके पास हाथ में दंडरत्नधारक | यमराज-सा सुषेण नामक एक सेनापति भी है; जिसके दंड को देव और असुर भी सहन नहीं कर सकते। साथ ही अमोघ | चक्ररत्न उस भरत चक्रवर्ती के आगे-आगे ऐसे चलता है; मानों सूर्य का मंडल चल रहा हो । सूर्य के सामने अंधकारसमूह टिक नहीं सकता, वैसे ही तीन लोक में कोई भी उसके तेज के सामने कैसे टिक सकता है? अतः हे बाहुबलि ! भरत महाराजा बल, वीर्य और तेज में समस्त राजाओं से बढ़कर है । इसलिए अगर आप अपने राज्य और जीवन की सुरक्षा चाहते हों तो आपको उनका आश्रय ग्रहण करना चाहिए ।'
अपनी बाहुओं से जगत के बल को परास्त करने वाले बाहुबलि ने अपनी भ्रकुटि चढ़ाकर समुद्र की तरह गर्जती | हुई गंभीर वाणी में कहा - 'दूत ! तुमने ऐसे वचन कहे हैं, जो लोभ से लिप्त और क्षुब्ध करने वाले हैं। दूत तो सदा स्वामी के वचन को यथार्थ संदेश के रूप में पहुंचाने वाले होते हैं। ऐ दूत ! सुरों, असुरों और नरेन्द्रों के पूज्य, उत्तम - पराक्रमी | पिताजी ही मेरे लिये पूजनीय और प्रशंसनीय नहीं, अपितु भरत भी मेरे लिये पूजनीय व प्रशंसनीय है, यह बात तुमने नयी नहीं सुनायी । कर देने वाले राजा चाहे उनसे दूर रहें, परंतु जिसका बलवान भाई बाहुबलि है, वह क्षेत्र से दूर | रहते हुए भी अपने भाई के निकट ही है। सूर्य और कमलवन के समान हम दोनों की परस्पर गाढ़ प्रीति है। अपने भाई का मेरे हृदय में स्थान है। फिर वहां जाने से क्या प्रयोजन है? हमारी प्रीति तो जन्म से ही स्वाभाविक है। हम सहजभाव से भैया के पास नहीं पहुंचे, यह बात सत्य है। परंतु इसे भैया भरत के प्रति मेरी कुटिलता क्यों समझी जाय ?

The clever messenger bowed to Bahubali, seated on a high throne, and delivered Bharat's message with reason: "O King! "O Kumar! The wise king has sent me to your service to know the reason for your absence; and for this purpose I have come to your service. It may be that you did not come naturally; but in such a great festival, how many people consider your absence as your rudeness, as a younger brother? Because low men always seek loopholes. We want such low people to have no chance to speak. You should pay close attention to this and defend yourself from the beginning. Therefore, we humbly request you to come to the service of your elder brother. The elder brother is the Maharaja, what is there to be ashamed of in worshipping him? Perhaps you did not come thinking, 'I am his equal brother; how can I go?' Then it will only reveal your arrogance. Obedient kings do not care about kinship. Just as iron is drawn near a magnet, so are gods, demons, and humans drawn by the brilliance and power of Bharatnaresh. At present, all kings follow only Bharat. Even Indra Maharaj has made friendship with him by giving him half the seat. Then it is not understood why you are shying away from going to his service? Perhaps you are considering yourself more valiant and defying the king, then this will be your great delusion. Your handful of army looks like a small stream in front of his army, like a small stream in front of the ocean. And he has eighty-four lakh elephants like Airavata, who can move them like movable mountains? There are as many horses and chariots, whose speed is like the storm of the apocalyptic ocean. Who can stop their speed? Then there are 98 crore villages under that Chakravarti and a foot army of 96 koti like lions; with whom he can distress whomever he wants, and they have a commander named Sushena, who holds the Danda Ratna in his hand, like Yama Raja; whose punishment even gods and Asuras cannot bear. Along with that, the Amogh Chakra Ratna moves ahead of that Bharat Chakravarti; as if the sun's disc is moving. Darkness cannot stand in front of the sun, so how can anyone stand in front of his brilliance in the three worlds? Therefore, O Bahubali! Bharat Maharaja is superior to all kings in strength, virility, and brilliance. Therefore, if you want the safety of your kingdom and life, you should take his shelter."

You have spoken such words, which are greedy and disturbing. Messengers always deliver the words of their master as a true message. O Messenger! You have not said anything new that my father, who is revered by the gods, Asuras, and kings, is not worthy of worship and praise for me, but Bharat is also worthy of worship and praise for me. Kings who give, may stay away from them, but whose strong brother is Bahubali, he is close to his brother even while staying away from the field. We both have a deep affection for each other, like the sun and the lotus grove. My brother has a place in my heart. Then what is the purpose of going there? Our affection is natural from birth. It is true that we did not reach our brother naturally, but why should this be considered my cunning towards brother Bharat?"
