Jain has suggested for about 1100 A.C. as the probable date for the C61966. His inference is based on the assumption that Rāmasimha has borrowed from the 700R श्रावकाचार or सावयधम्मदोहा (about 9.. A.C.) and Hemacandra (about 11th Century). But the former work is of a compilatory character and hence it would be hasty to fix the date, although Jain's inference may be near the fact.
The title should be GT814165 in keeping with the several works written by Kundakunda bearing the name Pāhuda. Pāhuda is a synonym of adhikara. It corresponds to prakaraṇa and signifies a work treating relegiophilosophical or didactic topic.
: Rāmasiṁha has made up his work by mostly borrowing from various sources like the Dohās and Caryās of the Buddhist Sahajayānis and from Yogindu's works. The text is also inflated. C. Caillat, in her English translation has suggested some textual emendations and corrections and so has been done by the co-author of this edition, Ramanik Shah, whose Gujarati translation is included in this work. The translation naturally is based on the text as set up by him. But now he thinks a recast of the text according to Hemacandra's Apabhraíśa presents a more faithful picture of the original text linguistically.
More reliable manuscripts can throw light on the original form and extent of the text of the दोहापाहुड.
