Introduction
Hiralal Jain published YESTIET in 1933. He used two manuscripts for setting up the text one of which is dated V.S.1794. Jain has edited the text on the same lines as his earlier published text of the सावयधम्मदोहा. He has observed that the Apabhraṁsa language of the 4TESTET is the same as treated by Hemacandra in his grammar. Secondly he has drawn attention to many common verses between the पाहुडदोहा and works like परमात्मप्रकाश of योगींदु. But the text as presented by him seems to be lingustically modernized considerably. Besides in some cases the readings are inferior to what we find in other sources. There are some obvious errors.
We have tried to restore the language. The following forms are given consistently and the printed text is changed acordingly : i. nom. sing of a-bases with the termination 3, neuter 3. ii. Genitive sing. of u-bases in t; plural in T. iii. Loc. sing. of a-bases with the termination
Present and imperative second person plural in I. V. Absolutives in vfa. vi. - Q - instead of - H -. vii. instead of f.
The restoration is on the same lines as my restoration of the text of the characteritfa and gefaharifa.
Textually verses 212 to 222 are considered by us as
iv.
