________________ 20 slaughter was prohibited. He said Akbar to abolish Jeziyā taxi and tax on sacred places in Gujarat. During his stay at Akbar's capital he visited places like Mathurā, Gwālior. In V. S. 1642, owing to an urgent call from his successor-disciple Vijayasena Sūri, Ācārya returned to Gujarat but kept behind him his eminent disciple at Akbar's court. He initiated 160 disciples, conferred Pandit-ships on 160 Sādhus and made 7 sages as Upādhyāyas. (Rşabhadāsa-HV-Sūri Rāsa 221). Being a Mahākāvya, our text is selective in describing: events. The greatest event in the last stage of HV's life was his pilgrimage to Satruñjaya. Hill. Our text has devoted one complete Canto (XVI) for the description of this pilgrimage in V. S. 1650 which should be read in the original. Rşabhadāsa corroborates it in his Hīravijaya Sūri Rāsa. One important point noted in our text (XVI 141 ) is that HV had to stay at Siddhācala (Satruñjaya Hill) at night due to his physical disability. After returing to Pálitanā, Sūriji promised his followers at Dvīpa ( Diu ) to visit their place. He spent the Cāturmāsa of V S 1651 at Unnata-nagara (ūnā). His health brcke down. A message sent to his successordisciple Vijaya-sena Sūri who was at Lāhor with Akbar. His health deteriorated fast. Paryusaņa Parva of V.
