(A. D. 1527) on Monday, Mārgaśirşa Sukla Navami, at Prahlādana-pura (i.e. Pālanpur ). His mother's name was Nāthībai. He has three brothers viz. Samghajī, Surajī and Sripala and three sisters namely Rambhā, Raṇī, and Vimalā. He lost his parents in his early childhood. His elder sisters Vimalā and Rānī ( who were married and had homes in Anhilwāda Pätan ) brought the parentless child to Patan. At that time, Vijaya Dāna Sūri of Tapāgaccha was staying at Patan. Hīrajī, though a child attended his sermons and he got himself initiated under Vijay Dāna ‘ūri on Monday, 2nd day in the dark half of Kārtika V. S. 15962 (A. D. 1540 ). Aftter the Dīkņā (Initiation cermony ), he was named "Hīraharja":
At that time, Devagiri (Daulatábād) in Mahārāshtra was a famous centre of learning with specialisat. 1. In his commentary on HS. III 26-32 gives the horo.
