देवतामूर्ति-प्रकरणम् .
Brahma has eight door-keepers, whom I (Mandan) shall now describe one-by-one. These guardians of the portals are human-like in appearance, and grave by nature. They are bearded and wear shining crowns. (16).
पूर्व दिशा के द्वारपाल
पद्मं स्रुचाक्षरं दण्डः सत्यनामा तु वामतः ।
सव्यापसव्ययोगेन पद्मं दण्डश्चरे धर्मकः ॥१७॥
पूर्व दिशा के द्वार के बाँयें भाग में सत्य नाम का द्वारपाल है, उसके दाहिने हाथ में कमल और होम करने की क» है। बाँये हाथ में पुस्तक और दण्ड है। दूसरा पूर्व दिशा के दाहिने भाग में धर्म नाम का द्वारपाल है। उसके नीचे के बाँयें हाथ में कमल और ऊपर के बाँयें हाथ में दण्ड है। ऊपर के दाहिने हाथ में होम करने की की और दाहिने हाथ में पुस्तक है।
The door-keeper' who stands to the left of the eastern entrance is called Satya. He holds a lotus, the long-handled spoon for offering oblations to the sacrificial fire, a book and the rod of justice or danda in his four hands.
The door-keeper who stands to the right of the eastern door is called Dharmak, and in his hands are the same attributes as Satya but in the opposite order. (17). दक्षिण दिशा के द्वारपाल
