હેમસમીક્ષા તેની આ પદ્ધતિ ઉપર કડવી ટીકા પણ કરી છે. પણ આ તે રૂઢ બાબત હતી એટલે પ્રત્યેક પંડિત શાસ્ત્રી કે વિજ્ઞાનવત્તા પિતાના અધ્યયનના પ્રાથમિક પગલા તરીકે કાવ્યબંધનો સારી રીતે અભ્યાસ કરતે.
હેમચંદ્રાચાર્યે શિષ્યને અભ્યાસગ્રન્થ-શિક્ષાગ્રન્થ પૂરા પાડવાના હેતુથી અનુશાસનની રચના કરી હતી. વિદ્યાર્થીઓ કિલષ્ટ અને દુર્ગમ વ્યાકરણ– ભણતા. તેમને શાસ્ત્રા
ભ્યાસ સરળ બને તે માટે તેમણે શબ્દાનુશાસનની રચના કરી હતી એમ તેમના શબ્દો ઉપરથી જ પ્રતીત થાય છે. પ્ર. ચ.

Dr. Sachau : Alberuni's India : P, 19: “ Besides the scientific books of the Hindus are composed in various favourite metres, by which they intend, considering that the books soon become corrupted by additions and omissions, to preserve them exactly as they are, in order to facilitate their being learnt by heart + + + + Now it is wellknown that in all metrical compositions there is much misty and constrained phraseology merely intended to fill up the metre and serving as a kind of patchwork, and this necessitates a certain amount of verbosity. + + + + From all this, it will appear that the metrical form of literary composition is one of the causes which inake the study of Sanskrit literature so particularly difficult."
