સંસ્કૃત દ્વયાશ્રય પાદને છેડે ચૌલુક્યવંશકીર્તનની પ્રશસ્તિ લખી છે. એ જ વિચારને કાવ્ય મારફતે જાણે આ વિસ્તાર હોય તેમ લાગે છે. છેવટને ભાગ કુમારપાલ રાજા થાય છે ત્યાં સુધી આવે છે. કુમારપાલના આલેખનમાં સર્ગ ૧૬-૨૦ જેટલે ભાગ લેવામાં આવ્યું છે. દ્વયાશ્રયકાવ્યને આરંભ શબ્દાનુશાસન પૂરું થયા પછી તરત જ કરવામાં આવ્યો હોય તે અસંભવિત નથી.
પ્રસ્તાવના પા. ૩૦ “દ્વયાશ્રય શબ્દનો અર્થ બે આશ્રય એટલે આધાર એટલો જ થાય છે, ને વ્યાકરણ તથા ઇતિહાસ બે આધાર જેને રચવામાં લીધેલા તે ગ્રન્થ તે થાય.”
