पिंडनियुक्ति ओर जाने लगे। रास्ते में उनको अन्य डाकू भी मिल गए। वे भी उनके साथ चलने लगे। चलते-चलते वे अपने गांव के पास आ गए। गांव की सीमा आने पर वे निर्भय हो गए। भोजन-वेला में उन्होंने कुछ गायों को मारकर उनका मांस पकाना प्रारंभ किया। इसी बीच कुछ अन्य पथिक भी वहां आ गए। डाकुओं ने उन्हें भी भोजन हेतु आमंत्रित किया। गोमांस पकने पर कुछ दस्यु एवं पथिकों ने उसे खाना प्रांरभ कर दिया। गोमांस का भक्षण बहुत बड़े पाप का हेतु है, यह सोचकर कुछ पथिकों ने वह भोजन नहीं किया। केवल दूसरों को परोसने का कार्य किया। इसी बीच हाथ में तलवार धारण किए हुए कुछ राजपुरुष वहां आ गए। उन्होंने चोरों के साथ भोजन करने वालों और परोसने वालों को भी पकड़ लिया। जिन पथिकों ने कहा कि हम तो रास्ते में मिले थे, हम चोर नहीं हैं, उनको राजपुरुषों ने कहा कि तुम गोमांस को परोसने वाले हो अतः चोर की भांति अपराधी हो। उन सबको प्राणदंड की सजा दी गई। ५. प्रतिश्रवण : राजपुत्र-दृष्टांत
गुणसमृद्ध नामक नगर में महाबल नामक राजा राज्य करता था। उसकी पटरानी का नाम शीला था। उसके बड़े पुत्र का नाम विजितसमर था। राज्य को ग्रहण करने के लिए उसने पिता के बारे में गलत ढंग से सोचना प्रारंभ कर दिया-'यह मेरा पिता वृद्ध होते हुए भी मरण को प्राप्त नहीं होता, लगता है यह दीर्घजीवी होगा। मैं अपने सैनिकों की सहायता से इसको मारकर राजगद्दी पर बैलूंगा।' उसने अपने सैनिकों के साथ मंत्रणा करनी प्रारंभ कर दी। उनमें से कुछ सैनिक बोले-'राजकुमार! हम आपकी सहायता करेंगे।' दूसरे बोले-'आप इस प्रकार कार्य करें तो ठीक रहेगा।' कुछ सैनिक उस समय मौन रहे । कुछ सैनिकों को यह बात अच्छी नहीं लगी अतः उन्होंने राजा को सारी स्थिति का निवेदन कर दिया। राजा ने सहायता करने वाले, सुझाव देने वाले तथा मौन रहने वाले सैनिकों के साथ ज्येष्ठ राजकुमार को अग्नि में डाल दिया। जिन सैनिकों ने आकर इस बात की सूचना दी, उनको सम्मानित किया। ६. संवास : पल्ली-दृष्टांत
__बसन्तपुर नामक नगर में अरिमर्दन राजा और प्रियदर्शना पटरानी थी। बसन्तपुर के पास भीमा नामक पल्ली थी, वहां अनेक भील दस्यु और वणिक् रहते थे। वे दस्यु सदैव अपनी पल्ली से निकलकर अरिमर्दन राजा के नगर में उपद्रव करते थे। राजा का कोई भी सामन्त और माण्डलिक उनका निग्रह नहीं कर सका। नगर में होने वाले उपद्रवों को सुनकर अत्यन्त क्रुद्ध होकर साधन-सामग्री के साथ राजा भील दस्युओं की पल्ली की ओर गया। भील सामने आकर संग्राम के लिए उद्यत हो गए। प्रबल सेना के कारण राजा ने उत्साहित होकर उन सबको पराजित करके मारना प्रारंभ कर दिया। उनमें से कुछ मृत्यु को प्राप्त हो गए तथा कुछ वहां से भाग गए। राजा ने क्रोधपूर्वक उस पल्ली पर अपना अधिकार कर लिया। वहां रहने वाले वणिकों ने सोचा कि हम चोर नहीं हैं अतः राजा हमारा क्या कर सकेगा? यही सोचकर उन्होंने
