पिंडनियुक्ति समयज-अर्थरहित लेकिन सिद्धान्त में प्रसिद्ध नाम। व्यवहार में तरल पदार्थों के समूह को पिण्ड नहीं कहा जाता लेकिन शास्त्र में पानी के लिए पिंड शब्द का प्रयोग हुआ है अतः कठिन द्रव्य के संश्लेष के अभाव में भी पानी का पिण्ड नाम समय प्रसिद्ध है लेकिन अन्वर्थ युक्त नहीं है, ओदन के लिए प्राभृतिका नाम भी समयज नाम है। तदुभयज-गुणनिष्पन्न और समयप्रसिद्ध नाम, जैसे-धर्मध्वज का नाम है रजोहरण । बाह्य और आभ्यन्तर रज को हरण करने के कारण इसे रजोहरण कहा जाता है इसलिए कारण में कार्य का उपचार करके इसका नाम रजोहरण रखा गया है। अनुभयज–अन्वर्थरहित और सिद्धान्त में अप्रसिद्ध नाम। भाष्यकार ने इसके लिए उभयातिरिक्त नाम का उल्लेख किया है, जैसे-शौर्य आदि के अभाव में किसी का नाम सिंह रख देना।
टीकाकार ने एक प्रश्न उपस्थित किया है कि समयकृत और उभयातिरिक्त–इन दोनों में विशेष अंतर नहीं है क्योंकि दोनों नाम अन्वर्थ से विकल हैं अतः दो का उल्लेख न करके एक का ही निर्देश किया जा सकता था। इसका उत्तर देते हुए टीकाकार कहते हैं कि जो लौकिक सांकेतिक नाम हैं, उनका व्यवहार सामान्य व्यक्ति करते हैं लेकिन जो सिद्धान्त प्रसिद्ध नाम हैं, उनका व्यवहार सामान्य व्यक्ति नहीं करते, जैसे भोजन के लिए 'समुद्देश' शब्द का प्रयोग इसीलिए दोनों का पृथक्-पृथक् उल्लेख किया गया है। इसी प्रकार गौण और समयकृत दोनों ही अन्वर्थ युक्त नाम हैं लेकिन गौण नाम का प्रयोग सामान्य व्यक्ति करते हैं तथा समयकृत का सामान्य व्यक्ति नहीं अपितु सामयिक ही करते हैं।
पिण्डनियुक्ति में प्रसंगवश अनेक मनोवैज्ञानिक तथ्य भी प्रस्तुत हुए हैं, जैसे• जो बालक बचपन में तिरस्कृत नहीं होता, वह आगे जाकर बुद्धिमान् और रोगरहित होता है। इसका तात्पर्य यह है कि बचपन में यदि अवचेतन मन में कोई कुंठा बैठ जाती है तो बड़े होने के बाद वह व्यक्ति को बहुत प्रभावित करती है। • नियुक्तिकार ने धाई के शरीर की कृशता और स्थूलता के आधार पर बालक के शरीर और मन पर पड़ने वाले प्रभाव को बहुत मनोवैज्ञानिक विधि से उकेरा है। यह पूरा प्रसंग आधुनिक बाल मनोविज्ञान की दृष्टि से अत्यन्त महत्त्वपूर्ण है। • यदि किसी व्यक्ति के कथन पर दूसरे लोग एक दूसरे को देखकर हंसते हैं तो समझ लेना चाहिए कि जो बात कही जा रही है, उसमें सत्यांश कम है। भिक्षा औद्देशिक है या नहीं, इसको जानने का ग्रंथकार ने यही मनोवैज्ञानिक तरीका बताया है। यदि गृहस्वामिनी कहती है कि यह आहार हमारे लिए बनाया
