कि वह तापस माया से पाद-लेप करके नदी पार करता है। श्रावकों ने प्रयत्न करके तापस को घर पर आमंत्रित किया और कहा कि पाद-प्रक्षालन न करने से अविनय होगा अतः तापस के चरण धो दिए। २३१/४. भिक्षा लेकर जब वह जाने लगा तो लेप न होने के कारण नदी में डूबने लगा। आचार्यसमित ने जब नदी को पार किया तो नदी के दोनों किनारे मिल गए। यह देखकर पांच सौ तापस विस्मित हो गए। कुलपति सहित सभी तापस उनके पास प्रव्रजित हो गए। वह समूह ब्रह्मशाखा के रूप में प्रसिद्ध हुआ। २३१/५. किसी के कौमार्य को क्षत करना, इसके विपरीत किसी दूसरे में योनि का निवेशन करना अर्थात् अक्षत करके उसे भोग भोगने योग्य बना देना मूलकर्म है। २३१/६. विवाह का समय निकट होने पर कन्या के भिन्नयोनिका होने से माता को चिन्ता हो गई। मुनि को सारी बात बताई। मुनि ने आचमन और पानौषध दिया, जिससे वह अक्षतयोनिका होकर यावज्जीवन मैथुन-सेवन में समर्थ हो गई। २३१/७. पति-पत्नी में कलह हो गया। श्राविका को अधृति हो गई कि पति सौत को लाएगा। उसने जंघापरिजित नामक मुनि को सारी बात बताई। मुनि ने योनि-भेद की औषधि दी। भिन्नयोनिका जानकर पति ने विवाह का प्रतिषेध कर दिया। (इस बात की अवगति होने पर) उसे महान् प्रद्वेष हो सकता है तथा इससे प्रवचन की अवहेलना भी होती है। २३१/८. विवाह न होने के कारण वयःप्राप्त पुत्री कहीं तुम्हारे कुल को कलंकित न कर दे। लोक में यह श्रुति है कि कुमारी ऋतुमती कन्या के रक्त के जितने बिन्दु गिरते हैं, उतनी ही बार उसकी मां नरक में जाती

(साधु गृहलक्ष्मी से बोला)-तुम्हारा पुत्र कुल, गोत्र और कीर्ति का कारण है। यह युवा हो गया है, इसका विवाह क्यों नहीं कर देती? बाद में भी तो इसका विवाह करना ही होगा। विवाह किए बिना कहीं यह (स्वैरिणी स्त्री के साथ) भाग न जाए। २३१/१०. मुनि ने रानी से पूछा-'तुम्हें अधृति-चिंता किस बात की है ?' उसने कहा-'मेरी सौत गर्भवती है।' मुनि बोला-'तुम अधृति मत करो, मैं तुम्हारा भी गर्भाधान करवा दूंगा।' २३१/११. रानी ने कहा-'यदि मेरे पुत्र हो भी जाएगा तो कनिष्ठ होने के कारण वह युवराज नहीं बनेगा, सौत का पुत्र युवराज बनेगा।' सौत के गर्भपात हेतु मुनि ने औषधि दी। यह बात ज्ञात होने पर मुनि के प्रति प्रद्वेष हो सकता है तथा शरीर का नाश भी हो सकता है।
