SHADBHASHACHANDRIKA.
This Sutra accordingly teaches that the change of a to in this word is optional though it is a स्वप्नादि 'अत एव विधानात् स्वमादौ वेतसस्य अत इत्वं वा भवति' त्रिविक्रम.
वेतसः - वेडिसो वेअसो ।
प्रतिगप्रेतीपगे ॥ १ । ३ । ३३ ।। p. 76—–
In प्रति and words of its class तू is changed to डू. This does not apply to qq and words of its class
प्रतिपन्नम् - पडिवण्णं । प्रतिभासः - पडिहासो । प्रतिहारः - पडिहारो । प्रतिस्पर्धी–पडिप्फद्धी ('ष्पस्पोः फः ' p. 39 ) । प्रतिनिवृत्तम् - पडिणिअत्तं । प्रतिकरोति - पडिकरइ । प्रतिपद् - पडिवआ ( the final consonant is changed to आ in the Fem. - 'अविद्युति स्त्रियामाल' p. 98 ) । प्रतिश्रुत्-पडंसुआ (It falls under the मनस्विनी class and therefore Anusvára is placed over the second vowel 'स्वरेभ्यो वक्रादौ ' P. 53 ) । प्रतिभा — पडिमा । प्रभृति - पहुडि ( 'ऋतुगे' 67 ) । मृतकम् - मडअं । भिन्दिपाल:-- भिंडिवालो । पताका — पडाआ । प्राभृतम् - पाहुडं ( 'ऋतुगे' p. 67 ) । विभीतकः – वहेडओ ( ' मूषिकविभीतक - 2 p. 62 ) । व्यापृतःवावडो । हरीतकी— हरडई ( 'ईतः काश्मीर हरीतक्योल लौ' p. 42 ) ।
Excep. - प्रतीपम् - पईवं । प्रतिज्ञा - पइण्णा । संप्रति-संपइ । प्रतिसमयमू -पइसमअं । प्रतिष्ठा - पट्ठा | प्रतिष्ठानम् - पट्ठाणं ।

In दम्भ &c. the dental is optionally changed to the corres ponding lingual—
दम्भः --- डंभो - दंभो । दरः - डरो -दरो । दर्भ: - डब्भो-दब्भो । गर्दभःगड्डहो – गद्दहो । दष्टः — डट्ठो – दट्ठो । दशनम् — डंसणं- दंसणं । दग्धः —–डड्ढो -दड्डो ( the conjunct consonant being changed to टू by 'दग्धविदग्धवृद्धिदंष्ट्रावृद्धे' P. 36 ) । दाहः – डाहो - दाहो । दोहदः - डोह लो —दोहलो ( दू being changed to लू by 'दोहदप्रदीपशातवाहनातस्याम्' p. 77 ) । दोला - डोला - दोला । दण्ड:-डंडो—दंडो । कदनम्-कडणं —कअणं ।
