SHADBHASHACHANDRIKA.

'क्वचित् प्रवृत्तिः क्वचिदप्रवृत्तिः कचिद्विभाषा क्वचिदन्यदेव |
विधेर्विधानं बहुधा समीक्ष्य चतुर्विधं बाहुलकं वदन्ति ॥ '
सुस्वादिरन्त्यहला - बहुलम् - Now follows an explanation of technical terms occurring in the Sutras. The terms are
to be understood as under :
सुसू = सु औ जसू Nom. Sing, Du, and Plu. terms. अस् = अम् औट शस् Acc. टास् = टा भ्याम् भिस् Inst. ङेस् == ङे भ्याम् भ्यस् Dat. ङसिस् = ङसि भ्याम् भ्यस् Abl ङम् = ङस् ओस् आम् Gen. ङिपू = ङि ओस् सुप् Loc,

लित् = When लू is joined to a letter or a combination of letters as इत्, it shows that what is taught in the Sûtra generally takes place necessarily, not optionally. For instance in the Sūtra ' अविद्युति स्त्रियामालू,' we have आलू in which
is. Therefore what is taught by the Sûtra takes place necessarily. That is, the final consonant of feminine words ending in a consonant is necessarily changed to T, except in the case of विद्युत्. Thus जरस् is changed जरआ.
