पद्मपुराणे
पभकान्तिभिरन्याभिः सन्ध्याभिरिव सादरम् । बालभास्वरसङ्काशैः कलशैहोटकामभिः ॥१३॥ गरुत्ममणिनिर्माणैः कुम्भैरन्याभिरुत्तमैः । स्वाभिः साक्षादिव श्रीभिः पद्मपत्रपुटैरिव ॥१४॥ कैश्चिद्वालातपच्छायः कदलीगर्भपाण्डुभिः । अन्यैर्गन्धसमाकृष्टमधुव्रतकदम्बकैः ॥१५॥ उद्वतनैः सुलीलाभिः स्त्रीभिरुद्वर्तितोऽभजत् । स्नानं नानामणिस्फीतप्रभाभाजि वरासने ॥१६॥ सुस्नातोऽलंकृतः कान्तः प्रयतो भावपूरितः । पुनः शान्तिजिनेन्द्रस्य विवेश भवनं नृपः ॥१७॥ कृत्वा तत्र परां पूजामहतां स्तुतितत्परः । चिरं त्रिभिः प्रणामं च भेजे भोजनमण्डपम् ॥१८॥ चतुर्विधोत्तमाहारविधि निर्माय पार्थिवः । विद्यापरीक्षणं कर्तुमार क्रीडनभूमिकाम् ॥१६॥ अनेकरूपनिर्माणं जनितं तेन विद्यया । विविधं चाद्भुतं कर्म विद्याधरजनातिगम् ॥२०॥ तत् कराहतभूकम्पसमाचूर्णितविग्रहम् । जातं परबलं भीतं जगौ निधनशङ्कितम् ॥२१॥ ततस्तं सचिवाः प्रोचुः कृतविद्यापरीक्षणम् । अधुना नाथ मुक्त्वा त्वां नास्ति राघवसूदनः ॥२२॥ भवतो नापरः कश्चित् पद्मास्य क्रोधसगिनः । इष्वासस्य पुरः स्थातुं समर्थः समराजिरे ॥२३॥ विद्ययाथ महर्द्धिस्थो विकृत्य परमं बलम् । सम्प्रति प्रमदोद्यानं प्रतस्थे प्रतिचक्रभृत् ॥२४॥ सचिवैरावृतो धीरैः सुरैराखण्डलो यथा । अप्रकृष्यः समागच्छन् स रेजे भास्करोपमः ॥२५॥
कलशोंसे उसे स्नान कराया ॥१२।। कमलके समान कान्तिवाली होनेसे जो प्रातःसंध्याके समान जान पड़ती थी ऐसी कितनी ही स्त्रियोंने बालसूर्यके समान देदीप्यमान स्वर्णमय कलशोंसे आदरपूर्वक उसे नहलाया था ॥१२॥ कुछ अन्य स्त्रियोंने नीलमणिसे निर्मित उत्तम कलशांसे उसे स्नान कराया था जिससे ऐसा जान पड़ता था मानो कमलके पत्रपुटोंसे लक्ष्मीनामक देवियोंने ही स्नान कराया हो ॥१४।। कितनी ही स्त्रियोंने प्रातःकालीन् घामके समान लालवर्णके कलशोंसे, कितनी ही स्त्रियोंने कदली वृक्षके भीतरी भागके समान सफेद रङ्गके कलशोंसे तथा कितनी ही स्त्रियोंने सुगन्धिके द्वारा भ्रमरसमूहको आकर्षित करनेवाले अन्य कलशोंसे उसे नहलाया था।१५।। स्नान के पूर्व उत्तम लीलावती स्त्रियोंने उससे नानाप्रकारके सुगन्धित उबटनोंसे उबटन लगाया था और उसके बाद उसने नाना प्रकारके मणियोंकी फैलती हुई कान्तिसे युक्त उत्तम आसन पर बैठकर स्नान किया था ॥१६॥ स्नान करनेके बाद उसने अलंकार धारण किये और तदनन्तर उत्तम भावोंसे युक्त हो श्रीशान्ति-जिनालयमें पुनः प्रवेश किया ।।१७।। वहाँ उसने स्तुतिमें तत्पर रहकर चिरकाल तक अर्हन्तभगवान्की उत्तम पूजा की, मन, वचन, कायसे प्रणाम किया और उसके बाद भोजन गृहमें प्रवेश किया ॥१८॥ वहाँ चार प्रकारका उत्तम आहार कर वह विद्याकी परीक्षा करनेके लिए क्रीडाभूमिमें गया ॥१६॥ वहाँ उसने विद्याके प्रभावसे अनेक रूप बनाये तथा नानाप्रकारके ऐसे आश्चर्यजनक कार्य किये जो अन्य विद्याधराको दुर्लभ थे ॥२०॥ उसने पृथ्वीपर इतने जोरसे हाथ पटका कि पृथ्वी काँप उठी और उसपर स्थित शत्रुओंके शरीर घूमने लगे तथा शत्रुसेना भयभीत हो मरणकी शंकासे चिल्लाने लगी ।।२१।। तदनन्तर विद्याकी परीक्षा कर चुकनेवाले रावणसे मन्त्रियोंने कहा कि हे नाथ ! इस समय आपको छोड़ और कोई दूसरा रामको मारनेवाला नहीं है ॥२२॥ रणाङ्गणमें कुपित हो बाण छोड़नेवाले रामके सामने खड़ा होनेके लिए आपके सिवाय और कोई दूसरा समर्थ नहीं है ।।२३॥
अथानन्तर बड़ी-बड़ी ऋद्धियोंसे सम्पन्न रावण, विद्याके प्रभावसे एक बड़ी सेना बना, चक्ररत्नको धारण करता हुआ उस प्रमदनामक उद्यानकी ओर चला जहाँ सीताका निवास था ॥२४॥ उस समय धीर वीर मन्त्रियोंसे घिरा हुआ रावण ऐसा जान पड़ता था मानो देवोंसे घिरा हुआ इन्द्र ही हो । अथवा जो बिना किसी रोक-टोकके चला आ रहा था ऐसा रावण सूर्यके

Then the ministers said to Ravana, who had finished testing his knowledge, "O King, there is no one else who can kill Rama now that you have been released." (22)

Ravana, endowed with great powers, created a vast army through the power of his knowledge. Wearing the jewel-studded discus, he set out towards the garden of pleasure where Sita resided. (24)
Surrounded by wise and valiant ministers, Ravana appeared like Indra surrounded by the gods. Or, like the sun, he advanced without hindrance. (25)
