त्रयोविंशोत्तरशतं पर्व

विषयामिषलुब्धानां प्राप्तानां नरकासुखम् । स्वकृतप्राप्तिवश्यानां किङ्करिष्यन्ति देवताः ॥४०॥ एतत्स्वोपचितं कर्म भोक्तव्यं यन्नियोगतः । तदास्माकं न शक्नोषि दुःखान्मोचयितु सुर ॥४॥ परित्रायस्व सीतेन्द्र नरकं येन हेतुना । प्राप्स्यामो न पुनब हि त्वमस्माकं दयापरः ॥४२॥ देवो जगाद परमं शाश्वतं शिवमुत्तमम् । रहस्यमिव मूढानां प्रख्यातं भुवनप्रये ॥४३॥ कर्मप्रमथनं शुद्धं पवित्रं परमार्थदम् । अप्राप्तपूर्वमाप्तं वा दुगृहीतं प्रमादिनाम् ॥४४॥ दुर्विज्ञेयमभव्यानां बृहद्भवभयानकम् । कल्याणं दुर्लभं सुष्टु सम्यग्दर्शनमूर्जितम् ॥४५॥ यदीच्छतात्मनः श्रेयस्तत एवं गतेऽपि हि । सम्यक्त्वं प्रतिपद्यस्व काले बोधिप्रदं शुभम् ॥४६।। इतोऽन्यदुत्तरं नास्ति न भूतं न भविष्यति । इह सेत्स्यन्ति सिद्धयन्ति सिषिधुश्च महर्षयः ।।४७|| अर्हद्भिर्गदिता भावा भगवनिर्महोत्तमैः । तथैवेति इढं भक्त्या सम्यग्दर्शनमिष्यते ॥४८॥ नयन्नित्यादिभिर्वाक्यैः सम्यक्त्वं नरके स्थितम् । सुरेन्द्रः शोचितुं लग्नस्तथाप्युत्तमभोगभाक् ॥४६।। तद्भवं कान्तिलावण्यशरीरमतिसुन्दरम् । निर्दग्धं कर्मणा पश्य नवोद्यानमिवाग्निना ॥५०॥ अचित्रीयत यां दृष्ट्वा भुवनं सकलं तदा । तिः सा व गतोदात्ता चारुक्रीडितसंयुता ॥५॥ कर्मभूमौ सुखास्यस्य यस्य क्षुद्रस्य कारणे । ईदृग्दुःखार्णवे मग्ना भवन्तो दुरितक्रियाः ॥५२।। इत्युक्तः प्रतिपन्नं वैः सम्यग्दर्शनमुत्तमम् । अनादिभवसंक्लिष्टैर्यन प्राप्तं कदाचन ॥५३॥
हैं ॥३६॥ जो विषयरूपी आमिषके लोभी होकर नरकके दुःखको प्राप्त हुए हैं तथा जो अपने द्वारा किये हुए कर्मों के पराधीन हैं उनका देव लोग क्या कर सकते हैं ? ॥४०॥ यतश्च अपने द्वारा किया हुआ कर्म नियमसे भोगना पड़ता है इसलिए हे देव ! तुम हम लोगोंको दुःखसे छुड़ानेमें समर्थ नहीं हो ॥४१॥ हे सीतेन्द्र! हमारी रक्षा करो, अब हम जिस कारण फिर नरकको प्राप्त न हों कृपाकर वह बात तुम हमें बताओ ॥४२॥
तदनन्तर देवने कहा कि जो उत्कृष्ट है, नित्य है, आनन्द रूप है, उत्तम है, मूढ़ मनुष्योंके लिए मानो रहस्यपूर्ण है, जगत्त्रयमें प्रसिद्ध है, कोको नष्ट करनेवाला है, शुद्ध है, पवित्र है, परमार्थको देनेवाला है, जो पहले कभी प्राप्त नहीं हुआ है और यदि प्राप्त हुआ भी है तो प्रमादी मनुष्य जिसकी सुरक्षा नहीं रख सके हैं, जो अभव्य जीवोंके लिए अज्ञेय है और दीर्घ संसारको भय उत्पन्न करनेवाला है, ऐसा सबल एवं दुर्लभ सम्यग्दर्शन ही आत्माका सबसे बड़ा कल्याण है ॥४३-४५।। यदि आप लोग अपना भला चाहते हैं तो इस दशा में स्थित होनेपर भी सम्यक्त्व को प्राप्त करो। यह सम्यक्त्व समयपर बोधिको प्रदान करनेवाला एवं शुभरूप है ॥४६॥ इससे बढ़कर दूसरा कल्याण न है, न था, न होगा। इसके रहते ही महर्षि सिद्ध होंगे, अभी हो रहे हैं और पहले भी हुए थे ॥४७॥ महा उत्तम अरहन्त जिनेन्द्र भगवानने जीवादि पदार्थीका जैसा निरूपण किया है वह वैसा ही है । इस प्रकार भक्तिपूर्वक दृढ़ श्रद्धान होना सो सम्यग्दर्शन है ॥४८॥ इत्यादि वचनोंके द्वारा नरकमें स्थित उन लोगोंको यद्यपि सीतेन्द्रने सम्यग्दर्शन प्राप्त करा दिया था तथापि उत्तम भोगांका अनुभव करनेवाला वह सीतेन्द्र उनके प्रति शोक करने में लीन था ॥४६॥ उसकी आँखोंमें उनका पूर्वभव मूल गया और उसे ऐसा लगने लगा कि देखो, जिस प्रकार अग्निके द्वारा नवीन उद्यान जल जाता है उसी प्रकार इनका कान्ति और लावण्य पूर्ण सुन्दर शरीर कर्मके द्वारा जल गया है ॥५०॥ जिसे देख उस समय सारा संसार आश्चर्यमें पड़ जाता था। इनकी वह उदात्त तथा सुन्दर क्रीड़ाओंसे युक्त कान्ति कहाँ गई ? ॥५१॥ वह उनसे कहने लगा कि देखो कर्मभूमिके उस क्षुद्र सुखके कारण आप लोग पापकर इस दुःखके सागरमें निमग्न हुए हैं ॥५२॥ इस प्रकार सीतेन्द्र के कहने पर अनादि भवोंमें क्लेश उठानेवाले

Those who are greedy for worldly pleasures and have attained the suffering of hell, what can the gods do for those who are subject to the results of their own actions? **40**

Since the karma done by oneself has to be experienced according to its nature, O God! You are not able to liberate us from suffering. **41**

O Sītendra! Protect us, tell us what we should do so that we may not attain hell again. You are merciful to us. **42**

Then the God said, "That which is excellent, eternal, blissful, supreme, a secret for the foolish, famous in the three worlds, the destroyer of karma, pure, holy, the giver of the ultimate truth, never attained before, or if attained, not protected by the careless, unknowable to the unworthy, causing fear in the long cycle of existence, such is the noble and rare Right Faith, the greatest welfare of the soul." **43-45**

If you desire your own welfare, then even in this state, attain Right Faith. This Right Faith is auspicious, granting enlightenment in due time. **46**

There is no other welfare greater than this, nor was there, nor will there be. In its presence, the great sages become Siddhas, are becoming Siddhas, and were Siddhas in the past. **47**

As the great Arhats, the Jinas, have described the nature of the soul and other entities, so it is. Thus, to have firm faith with devotion is Right Faith. **48**

Although Sītendra had caused those in hell to attain Right Faith through his words, he was still grieving for them, being the enjoyer of excellent pleasures. **49**

Their former beautiful bodies, full of radiance and loveliness, were burnt by karma, like a new garden by fire. **50**

Seeing this, the whole world was astonished. Where did their radiant beauty, full of noble and graceful playfulness, go? **51**

He said to them, "Look, because of that small pleasure in the realm of karma, you have become immersed in this ocean of suffering by doing evil deeds." **52**

Thus, when Sītendra spoke, those who had been afflicted in countless births attained the supreme Right Faith, which they had never attained before. **53**
