पभपुराणे
अनिवारिप्रवेशादिपापं धर्मधिया श्रयन् । प्रयाति दुर्गतिं जीवो मूढः स्वहितवमनि ॥२३८॥ रौद्रार्तध्यानसक्तस्य सकामस्य कुकर्मणः । उपायविपरीतस्य जायते निन्दिता गतिः ॥२३॥ मिथ्यादर्शनयुक्तोऽपि यो दद्यात्साध्वसाधुषु । धर्मबुद्धिरसौ पुण्यं बध्नाति विपलोदयम ॥२४॥ भुक्षानोऽपि फलं तस्य धर्मस्यासौ त्रिविष्टपे । लक्षभागदलेनाऽपि सम्यग्दृष्टेन सस्मितः ॥२४॥ सापग्दर्शनमुत्तुङ्ग सुश्लाध्याः संवहन्ति ये । देवलोकप्रधानास्ते भवन्ति नियमप्रियाः ॥२४२॥ क्ले शिवाऽपि महायत्नं मिथ्यादृष्टिः कुलिङ्गकः । देवकिङ्करभावेन फलं हीनमवाश्नुते ॥२४३॥ सप्ताष्टसु नृदेवत्वभवसङ्क्रान्तिसौख्यभाक् । श्रमणत्वं समाश्रित्य सम्यग्दृष्टिविमुच्यते ॥२४४॥ वीतरागैः समस्त रिमं मार्ग प्रदर्शितम् । जन्तुविषयमूढात्मा प्रतिपत्तु न वाञ्छति ॥२४५॥ आशापाशदृढं बद्धा मोहेनाधिष्ठिता भृशम् । तृष्णागारं समानीताः पापहिञ्जीरवाहिनः ॥२४६॥ रसनं स्पर्शनं प्राप्य दुःखसौख्याभिमानिनः । वराका विविधा जीवाः क्लिश्यन्ते शरणोज्झिताः ॥२४७॥ "बिभेति मृत्युतो नास्य ततो मोक्षः प्रजायते । काक्षत्यनारतं सौख्यं न च लाभोऽस्य सिद्धयति ॥२४८॥ इत्ययं भीतिकामाभ्यां विफलाभ्यां वशीकृतः । केवलं तापमायाति चेतनो निरुपायकः ॥२४॥ आशया नित्यमाविष्टो भोगान् भोक्तुं समीहते । न करोति तिं धर्म काञ्चने मशको यथा ॥२५०॥
स्थान अथवा मोक्षको प्राप्त नहीं कर सकता ॥२३५-२३७।। जो धर्म बुद्धिसे अग्निप्रवेश तथा जलप्रवेश आदि पाप करता है वह आत्महितके मार्गमें मूढ है और दुर्गतिको प्राप्त होता है ॥२३८॥ जो रौद्र और आर्तध्यानमें आसक्त है, कामपर जिसने विजय प्राप्त नहीं की है, जो खोटे काम करता है तथा उपायसे विपरीत प्रवृत्ति करता है उसकी निन्दित गति-कुगति होती है ॥२३॥ जो मनुष्य मिथ्यादर्शनसे युक्त होकर भी धर्म बुद्धिसे साधु और असाधुके लिए दान देता है वह विपुल अभ्युदयको देनेवाले पुण्य कर्मका बन्ध करता है ॥२४०॥ यद्यपि ऐसा जीव स्वर्गमें उस धर्मका फल भोगता है तथापि वह सम्यग्दृष्टिको प्राप्त होनेवाले फलके लाखमेंसे एक भागके भी बराबर नहीं है ॥२४१॥ जो मनुष्य उत्कृष्ट सम्यग्दर्शन धारण करते हैं तथा चारित्रसे प्रेम रखते हैं वे इस लोकमें भी प्रशंसनीय होते हैं और मरनेके बाद देवलोकमें प्रधान होते हैं ॥२४२।। मिथ्यादृष्टि कुलिङ्गी मनुष्य, बड़े प्रयत्नसे क्लेश उठाकर भी देवोंका किङ्कर बन तुच्छ फलको प्राप्त होता है। भावाथे-मिथ्यादृष्टि कुलिङ्गी मनुष्य यद्यपि तपश्चरणके अनेक क्लश उठाता है तथापि वह उसके फलस्वरूप स्वर्गमें उत्तम पद प्राप्त नहीं कर पाता किन्तु देवोंका किङ्कर होकर हीन फल प्राप्त कर पाता है ॥२४३॥ सम्यग्दृष्टि मनुष्य, सात आठ भवोंमें मनुष्य
और देव पर्यायमें परिभ्रमणसे उत्पन्न हुए सुखको भोगता हुआ अन्तमें मुनिदीक्षा धारणकर मुक्त हो जाता है ॥२४४॥ वीतराग सर्वज्ञ देवके द्वारा दिखाये हुए इस मार्गको, विषयी मनुष्य प्राप्त नहीं करना चाहता ॥२४५॥ जो आशारूपी पाशसे मजबूत बँधे हैं, मोहसे अत्यधिक आक्रान्त हैं, तृष्णारूपी घरमें लाकर डाले गये हैं, पापरूपी जञ्जीरको धारण कर रहे हैं तथा स्पर्श और रसको पाकर जो दःखको ही सख मान बैठे हैं इस तरह नाना प्रकारके शरण रहित बेचारे दीन प्राणी निरन्तर क्लेश उठाते रहते हैं ॥२४६-२४॥ यह प्राणी मृत्युसे डरता है पर उससे छुटकारा नहीं हो पाता । इसी प्रकार निरन्तर सुख चाहता है पर उसकी प्राप्ति नहीं हो पाती ॥२४८।। इस प्रकार निष्फल भय और कामसे वश हुआ यह प्रागो निरुपाय हो मात्र संतापको प्राप्त होता रहता है ।।२४६। निरन्तर आशासे घिरा हुआ यह प्राणो भोग भोगनेकी चेष्टा करता है परन्तु जिस प्रकार मच्छर स्वर्णमें संतोष नहीं करता उसी

**243.** Even with great effort, the one with a false view, a Kuliṅga, becomes a servant of the gods and receives only a meager reward.

**244.** The one with Right Faith, having enjoyed the pleasures of being a human and a god in seven or eight lifetimes, attains liberation by embracing the life of a monk.

**245.** The one who is deluded by worldly objects does not desire to follow the path shown by the liberated, the all-knowing.

**246.** Bound by the strong chains of desire, deeply engrossed in delusion, they are brought into the house of thirst, carrying the chains of sin.

**247.** Various beings, clinging to the pleasures and pains of taste and touch, suffer greatly, having abandoned their refuge.

**248.** "He fears death, but does not attain liberation. He constantly desires happiness, but does not achieve it."

**249.** Thus, controlled by futile fear and desire, this being, devoid of any means, only experiences suffering.

**250.** Always consumed by desire, he seeks to enjoy pleasures, but does not perform any Dharma, just like a mosquito does not care for gold.
