पद्मपुराणे
नादर्शि मलिनस्तत्र न दीनो न बुभुक्षितः । तृषितो न कुवस्त्रो वा जनो न च विचिन्तकः ॥१०६॥ नानाभरणसम्पनाश्चारुवेषाः सुकान्तयः । पुरुषास्तत्र नार्यश्च रेजः सैन्यमहार्णवे ॥१७॥ विभूत्या परया युक्तावेवं जनकजात्मजौ । साकेताविषयं प्राप्ताविन्द्राविव सुरास्पदम् ॥१०॥ यवपुण्ड्रेक्षुगोधूमप्रभृत्युत्तमसम्पदा । सस्येन शोभिता यत्र वसुधान्तरवर्जिता ॥१०॥ सरितो राजहंसौधः सरांसि कमलोत्पलैः । पर्वता विविधैः पुष्पैर्गीतैरुद्यानभूमयः ॥११॥ नचिकीमहिपीवातैमहोक्ष स्वरहारिभिः गोपीभिर्मञ्चसक्ताभिर्यत्र भान्ति वनानि च ॥१११॥ सीमान्तावस्थिता यत्र प्रामा नगरसन्निभाः। त्रिविष्टपपुराभानि राजन्ते नगराणि च ॥११२॥ स्वैरं तमुपभुजानौ विषयं विषयप्रियम् । परेण तेजसा युक्तौ गच्छन्तौ लवणाङ्कुशौ ।।११३॥ दन्तिनां रणचण्डानां गण्डनिर्गतवारिणा' । कर्दमत्वं समानीता सकलाः पथि पांसवः ॥११॥ भृशं पटुखुराघातै जिनां चञ्चलात्मनाम् । जर्जरत्वमिवानीता कोसलाविषयावनिः ॥११५॥ ततः सन्ध्यासमासक्तघनौधेनेव सङ्गतम् । दूरे नभः समालचय जगदुर्लवणांकुशौ ॥११६॥ किमेतद्दश्यते माम तुङ्गशोणमहाद्युति । वज्रजकस्ततोऽवोचत्परिज्ञाय चिरादिव ॥११७॥ देवावेषा विनीतासौ रश्यते नगरी परा । हेमप्राकारसज्जाता यस्याश्छायेयमुन्नता ॥११॥ अस्यां हलधरः श्रीमानास्तेऽसौ भवतोः पिता । यस्य नारायणो भ्राता शत्रुध्नश्च महागुणः ॥११६॥ शौर्यमानसमेताभिः कथाभिरितिसक्तयोः । सुखेन गच्छसोरासीदन्तराले तयोर्नदी ॥१२०॥
बड़े आदरके साथ सबके लिए मधु, स्वादिष्ट पेय, घी, पानी और नाना प्रकारके रसीले भोजन सब ओर प्रदान करते रहते थे ॥१०४-१०५।। उस सेनामें न तो कोई मनुष्य मलिन दिखाई देता था, न दीन, न भूखा, न प्यासा, न कुत्सित वस्त्र धारण करनेवाला और न चिन्तातुर ही दिखाई पड़ता था ॥१०६।। उस सेनारूपी महासागरमें नाना आभरणोंसे युक्त, उत्तम वेशसे सुसज्जित एवं उत्तम कान्तिसे युक्त पुरुष और स्त्रियाँ सुशोभित थीं ॥१०७। इस प्रकार परमविभूतिसे युक्त सीताके दोनों पुत्र उस तरह अयोध्याके उस देशमें पहुँचे जिस तरह कि इन्द्र देवोंके स्थानमें पहुँचते हैं ॥१०॥ जौ, पौडे, ईख तथा गेहूँ आदि उत्तमोत्तम धान्योंसे जहाँकी भूमि निरन्तर सुशोभित है ॥१०६॥ वहाँकी नदियाँ राजहंसोंके समूहोंसे, तालाब कमलों और कुवलयोंसे, पर्वत नाना प्रकारके पुष्पोंसे और बाग-बगीचोंकी भूमियाँ सुन्दर संगीतोंसे सुशोभित हैं ॥११०।। जहाँ के वन बड़े-बड़े बैलांके शब्दोंसे, सुन्दर गायों और भैसोंके समूहसे तथा मचानपर बैठी गोपालिकाओंसे सुशोभित हैं ॥१११।। जहाँकी सीमाओंपर स्थित गाँव नगरोंके समान और नगर स्वर्गपुरीके समान सुशोभित हैं ॥११२।। इस तरह पञ्चेन्द्रियके विषयोंसे प्रिय उस देशका इच्छानुसार उपभोग करते हुए, परमतेजके धारक लवणाङ्कश आनन्दसे चले जाते थे ॥११३।। रणके कारण तीव्र क्रोधको प्राप्त हुए हाथियोंके गण्डस्थलसे झरनेवाले जलसे मार्गकी समस्त धूलि कीचड़पने को प्राप्त हो गई थी॥११४॥ चश्चल घोड़ोंके तीक्ष्ण खुरावातसे उस कोमल देशको भूमि माने अत्यन्त जर्जर अवस्थाको प्राप्त हो गई थी ॥११५।।।
तदनन्तर लवणाङ्कश, दूरसे ही आकाशको सन्ध्याकालीन मेघोंके समूह सहित जैसा देखकर बोले कि हे माम! जिसकी लाल-लाल विशाल कान्ति बहुत ऊँची उठ रही है ऐसा यह क्या दिखाई दे रहा है ? यह सुन वज्रजङ्घने बहुत देरतक पहिचाननेके बाद कहा कि हे देवो! यह वह उत्कृष्ट अयोध्या नगरी दिखाई दे रही है जिसके सुवर्णमय कोटकी यह कान्ति इतना ऊँची उठ रही है ॥११६-११८।। इस नगरीमें वह श्रीमान् बलभद्र रहते हैं जो कि तुम दोनोंके पिता हैं तथा नारायण और महागुणवान् शत्रुघ्न जिनके भाई हैं ।।११६।। इस तरह शूर-वीरता

There was no one in that army who was dirty, poor, hungry, thirsty, wearing shabby clothes, or worried. ||106|| In that ocean-like army, men and women adorned with various ornaments, dressed in fine clothes, and with beautiful complexions, were resplendent. ||107|| Thus, endowed with supreme glory, the two sons of Janaka reached the kingdom of Ayodhya, just as Indra reaches the abode of the gods. ||108|| The land there is adorned with the finest crops like barley, paddy, sugarcane, and wheat. ||109|| The rivers there are adorned with flocks of royal swans, the ponds with lotuses and water lilies, the mountains with various flowers, and the gardens with beautiful music. ||110|| The forests there are adorned with the sounds of large bulls, herds of beautiful cows and buffaloes, and cowherds sitting on platforms. ||111|| The villages situated on the borders are like cities, and the cities are like the city of Trivishtap. ||112|| Enjoying the objects of the five senses at will, Lavana-Angusha, endowed with supreme energy, went happily to that beloved land. ||113|| Due to the battle, the water flowing from the temples of the enraged elephants made all the dust on the path muddy. ||114|| The sharp hooves of the restless horses made the soft land of Kosala appear as if it were in a state of utter ruin. ||115|| Then, seeing the sky from afar, adorned with a group of evening clouds, Lavana-Angusha said, "Oh Mam! What is this that I see, with its bright red, vast radiance, rising so high?" Hearing this, Vajrajangha, after recognizing it for a long time, said, "Oh Deva! This is the excellent city of Ayodhya, whose golden walls are shining so brightly." ||116-118|| In this city, resides the glorious Balabhadra, who is your father, and Narayana and the virtuous Shatrughna, who are his brothers. ||119|| Thus, filled with stories of valor and courage, they happily went along, and a river flowed between them. ||120||
They continued to offer honey, delicious drinks, ghee, water, and various kinds of juicy food to everyone with great respect. ||104-105||
