पद्मपुराणे
इत्यादिभिर्वानिव हैः सुयुक्तैर्यदा स लक्ष्मीधरपण्डितेन । नीतः प्रबोधं शनकैरमुञ्चत् क्रोधं तथा दुःसहदीप्तिचक्रः ॥११॥ निर्भसितः ऋरकुमारचक्रः वाक्यैरलं वज्रनिघाततुल्यैः । अपूर्वहेतुप्रलकृतात्मा स्वं मन्यमानः तृणतोऽप्यसारम् ॥१२॥ नभः समुत्पत्य भयादितोऽहं त्वत्पादमूलं पुनरागतोऽयम् । लचमीधरोऽसौ यदि नाऽभविष्यद्वैदेहतो देव ! ततोऽमरिष्यम् ॥१३॥
पुष्पिताग्रावृत्तम् इति गदितमिदं यथाऽनुभूतं रिपुचरितं तव देव ! निर्विशङ्कम् । कुरु यदुचितमन्त्र साम्प्रतं वचनकरा हि भवन्ति मद्विधास्तु ॥१४॥ बहु विदितमलं सुशास्त्रजालं नयविषयेषु सुमन्त्रिणोऽभियुक्ताः । अखिलमिदमुपैति मोहभावं पुरुषरवौ घनमोहमेघद्ध ॥१५॥
इत्याचे रविषेणाचार्यप्रोक्ते पद्मपुराणे रावणदूतागमागमाभिधानं नाम षट्षष्टितमं पर्व ॥६६॥
और न दूतपर प्रहार करते हैं ।।६०॥ इस प्रकार युक्तियुक्त वचनोंसे जब लक्ष्मण रूपी पण्डितने उसे समझाया तब कहीं दुःसह दीप्तिचक्रको धारण करनेवाले भामण्डलने धीरे-धीरे क्रोध छोड़ा ॥११॥ तदनन्तर दुष्टता भरे अन्य कुमारोंने वन्न प्रहारके समान कर वचनोंसे जिसका अत्यधिक तिरस्कार किया तथा अपूर्व कारणोंसे जिसकी आत्मा अत्यन्त लघु हो रही थी, ऐसा मैं अपने आपको तृणसे अधिक निःसार मानता हुआ भयसे दुःखी हो आकाशमें उड़कर आपके पादमूलमें पुनः आया हूँ। हे देव ! यदि लक्ष्मण नहीं होता तो मैं आज अवश्य ही भामण्डलसे मारा जाता ॥६२-६३।। हे देव ! इस प्रकार मैंने शत्रुके चरित्रका जैसा कुछ अनुभव किया है वह निःशङ्क होकर आपसे निवेदन किया है। अब इस विषयमें जो कुछ उचित हो सो करो क्योंकि हमारे जैसे पुरुष तो केवल आज्ञा पालन करनेवाले होते हैं ।।१४।। गौतम स्वामी कहते हैं कि हे श्रेणिक ! जिन्हें अनेक शास्त्रोंके समूह अच्छी तरह विदित हैं, जो नीतिके विषयमें सदा उद्यत रहते हैं तथा जिनके समीप अच्छे-अच्छे मन्त्री विद्यमान रहते हैं ऐसे मनुष्य भी पुरुष रूपी सूर्यके मोह रूपी सघन मेघसे आच्छादित हो जाने पर मोह भावको प्राप्त हो जाते हैं ॥६॥
इस प्रकार पार्ष नामसे प्रसिद्ध, रविषेणाचार्य द्वारा कथित पद्मपुराणमें रावणके दूतका रामके
पास जाने और वहाँ से आनेका वर्णन करने वाला छयासठवाँ पर्व समाप्त हुआ ॥६६॥

O God! I have recounted the character of the enemy as I have experienced it, without any hesitation. Do what is right, for we, like me, are only those who follow orders. ||14||

Gautama Swami says, O Shrenik! Even those who are well-versed in many groups of scriptures, who are always engaged in matters of ethics, and who have good ministers by their side, become subject to delusion when they are enveloped by the dense clouds of delusion of the sun-like man. ||15||

Thus ends the sixty-sixth chapter of the Padma Purana, known as Ravana's Messenger's Arrival and Departure, narrated by the sage Ravishena. ||66||

And they do not attack the messenger. ||60||
