पद्मपुराणे
एतदेकभवे दुःखं वियुकरय मया सह । सम्यग्दर्शनहानौ तु दुःख जन्मनि जन्मनि ॥४१॥ नरस्य सुलभं लोके निधिलीवाहनादिकम् । सम्यग्दर्शनरत्नं तु साम्राज्यादपि दुर्लभम् ॥४२॥ राज्ये विधाय पापानि पतनं नरके ध्रुवम् । उद्ध्वं गमनमेकेन सम्यग्दर्शनतेजसा ।। ४३।। सम्यग्दर्शनरत्नेन यस्यामा कृतभूपणः । लोकहितयमप्यस्य कृतार्थत्वमुपाश्नुते ॥४४॥ सन्दिष्टमिति जानक्या स्नेह निर्भरचित्तया । श्रत्वा कस्य न वीरस्य जायते मतिरुत्तमा ॥४५॥ स्वभावाद्भीरुका भीरु ष्यमाणा सुभारुभिः । विभीपिकाभिरुग्राभिर्मीमाभिः पौंस्निनोऽप्यलम् ॥४६॥ भासुरोग्रमहाव्यालजालकालभयङ्करे । सामिशुष्कसरोमजच्छू कुर्वन्मत्तवारणे ॥४॥ कर्कन्धुकण्टकाश्लिष्टपुच्छातचमरावले । अलीकसलिलश्रद्वाठौकमानाकुलणके ॥४८॥ कपिकच्छूरजःसङ्गनितान्तचलमर्कटे । प्रलम्बकेसरच्छन्नवक्त्रविक्रन्ददृक्षके ॥४६॥ तृष्णातुरवृकग्रामलसदसनपल्लवे । गुञ्जाकोशीस्फुटाच्छोटताड़नाद्धीगिनि ॥५०॥ परुषानिलसञ्चारक्रूरक्रन्दश्रिताघ्रिपे । क्षणसम्भूतवातूलसमुद्धतरजोदले ॥५१॥ महाजगरसञ्चारचूर्णितानेकपादपे । उद्धृत्तमत्तनागेन्द्रध्वस्तभीमासुधारिणि ॥५२॥ वराहवाहिनीखातसःक्रोडसुकर्कशे । कण्टकावटवल्मीककूटसङ्कटभूतले ॥५३॥ शुष्कपुष्पद्रवोत्ताम्यद्वाम्यद्धर्मातंगमुति । कुप्यच्छलिलनिमुक्तसूचीशतकरालिते ॥५४॥
आप सम्यग्दर्शनको शुद्धताको छोड़ने के योग्य नहीं हैं ॥४०॥ क्योंकि मेरे साथ वियोगको प्राप्त हुए आपको इसी एक भवमें दुःख होगा परन्तु सम्यग्दर्शनके छूट जाने पर तो भव-भवमें दुःख होगा ॥४१॥ संसारमें मनुष्यको खजाना स्त्री तथा वाहन आदिका मिलना सुलभ है परन्तु सम्यग्दर्शन रूपी रत्न साम्राज्यसे भी कहीं अधिक दुर्लभ है ।।४२।। राज्यमें पाप करनेसे मनुष्यका नियमसे नरकमें पतन होता है परन्तु उसी राज्यमें यदि सम्यग्दर्शन साथ रहता है तो एक उसीके तेजसे ऊर्ध्वगमन होता है--स्वर्गकी प्राप्ति होती है ॥४३॥ जिसकी आत्मा सम्यग्दर्शन रूपी रत्नसे अलंकृत है । उसके दोनों लोक कृतकृत्यताको प्राप्त होते हैं ॥४४|| इस प्रकार स्नेह पूर्ण चित्तको धारण करनेवाली सीताने जो संदेश दिया है उसे सुनकर किस वीरके उत्तम बुद्धि उत्पन्न नहीं होती ? ॥४५॥ जो स्वभावसे ही भीक है यदि उसे दूसरे भय उत्पन्न कराते हैं तो उसके भीरु होनेमें क्या आश्चर्य ? परन्तु उग्र एवं भयंकर विभीषिकाओंसे तो पुरुष भी भयभीत हो जाते हैं। भावार्थ--जो भयंकर विभीषिकाएँ स्वभाव-भीर सीताको प्राप्त हैं वे पुरुषको भी प्राप्त न हों ॥४६॥

फँसे हाथी शूत्कार कर रहे हैं, जहाँ वेरीके काँटोंमें पूँछके उलझ जानसे सुरा गायोंका समूह दुःखी हो रहा है, जहाँ मृगमरीचिमें जलकी श्रद्धासे दौड़नेवाले हरिणों के समूह व्याकुल हो रहे हैं, जहाँ करेंचकी रजके संगसे वानर अत्यन्त चश्चल हो उठे हैं, जहाँ लम्बी-लम्बी जटाओंसे मुख ढंक जानेके कारण रीछ चिल्ला रहे हैं, जहाँ प्याससे पीड़ित भेड़ियों के समूह अपनी जिह्वा रूपी पल्लवोंको बाहर निकाल रहे हैं, जहाँ गुमचीकी फलियोंके चटकने तथा उनके दाने ऊपर पड़नेसे साँप कुपित हो रहे हैं, जहाँ वृक्षांका आश्रय लेनेवाले जन्तु, तीव्र वायुके संचारसे 'कहीं वृक्ष टूट कर ऊपर न गिर पड़े, इस भयसे कर क्रन्दन कर रहे हैं, जहाँ क्षण एकमें उत्पन्न वघरूलेमें धलि और पत्तोंके समूह एकदम उड़ने लगते है, जहाँ बड़े-बड़े अजगरोंके संचारसे अनेक वृक्ष चूर चूर हो गये हैं, जहाँ उद्दण्ड मदोन्मत्त हाथियों के द्वारा भयंकर प्राणी नष्ट कर दिये गये हैं, जो सूकरोंके समूहसे खोदे गये तालाबोंके मध्य भाग से कठोर है, जहाँका भूतल काँटे, गड्डू, वयाठे और मिट्टीके टीलोंसे व्याप्त है, जहाँ फूलोंका रस
