चतुरशीतितम पर्व
. दुर्ज्ञानान्सरमीह रहस्यं परमादभुतम् । किमेतदिति नो विमो गजस्य मनसि स्थितम् ॥३०॥
न शक्यस्तोषमानेतुं न च लोभं कदाचन । न याति क्रोधमप्येष दन्ती चित्रार्पितो यथा ॥३१॥ सकलस्यास्य राज्यस्य मूलमद्भुतविक्रमः । त्रिलोकभूषणो देव वर्तते करटीदृशः ॥३२॥ इति विज्ञाय देवोऽत्र प्रमाणं कृत्यवस्तुनि । निवेदनक्रियामात्रसारा ह्यस्माहशा मतिः ॥३३॥
इन्द्रवज्रा श्रुत्वेहितं नागपतेस्तदीडक पूर्वेहितात्यन्तविभिन्नरूपम् । जातौ नरेद्रावधिकं विचिन्तौ पद्माभलक्ष्मीनिलयौ पणेन ॥३॥
उपजातिः आलानगेहानिसृतः किमर्थ शमं पुनः केन गुणेन यातः' ।
वृणोति कस्मादशनं न नाग इत्युद्युतिः पन्भरविबभूव ॥३५॥ इत्याचे श्रीरविषेणाचार्यप्रोक्त पद्मपुराणे त्रिभुवनालङ्कारशमाभिधानं नाम
चतुरशीतितमं पर्व ॥८॥
न ग्रास उटानेमें और न जलमें ही इच्छा करता है ॥२६॥ जिसका जानना कठिन है ऐसा यह कौनसा परम अद्भुत रहस्य इस हाथीके मनमें स्थित है यह हम नहीं जानते ॥३०॥ यह हाथी न तो सन्तोषको प्राप्त हो सकता है न कभी लोभको प्राप्त होता है और न कभी क्रोधको प्राप्त होता है, यह तो चित्रलिखितके समान खड़ा है ॥३१।। हे देव ! अद्भुत पराक्रमका धारी यह हाथी समस्त राज्यका मूल कारण है । हे देव ! यह त्रिलोकमण्डन ऐसा ही हाथी है ॥३२।। हे देव ! इस
पर जानकर अब जो कुछ करना हो सो इस विषयमें आप ही प्रमाण है अर्थात् जो कुछ आप जाने सो करें क्योंकि हमारे जैसे लोगोंकी बुद्धि तो निवेदन करना ही जानती है ॥३३।। इस प्रकार गजराजकी पूर्वचेष्टाओंसे अत्यन्त विभिन्न पूर्वोक्त चेष्टाको सुनकर राम लक्ष्मण राजा क्षण भरमें अत्यधिक चिन्तित हो उठे ॥३४॥ 'यह हाथी बन्धनके स्थानसे किसलिए बाहर निकला ? फिर किस कारण शान्तिको प्राप्त हो गया ? और किस कारण आहारको स्वीकृत नहीं करता है। इस प्रकार रामरूपी सूर्य अनेक वितर्क करते हुए उदित हुए ॥३५॥ इस प्रकार आर्ष नामसे प्रसिद्ध, श्रीरविषेणाचार्य प्रणीत पद्मपुराणमें त्रिलोकमण्डन
हाथीके शान्त होनेका वर्णन करनेवाला चौरासीवाँ पर्व समाप्त हुआ ॥८॥

**33.** O Lord! Having understood this, you are the authority on this matter. We, with our limited intellect, can only make requests.

**34.** Hearing the elephant's previous actions, which were vastly different from its current behavior, Rama, Lakshmana, and the king were deeply troubled for a moment.

**35.** "Why did this elephant escape from its confinement? Why did it attain peace? And why does it not accept food?" Thus, the sun, in the form of Rama, rose with many doubts.

**8.** Thus ends the eighty-fourth chapter of the Padma Purana, known as the "Aarya" (authored by the sage Ravi), which describes the peace of the elephant, an ornament of the three worlds.
