पद्मपुराणे
सिद्धयोगमुनिदृष्ट्वा तामश्रुतरलेक्षणाम् । आकारसूचितोदारशोको सम्परिपृष्टवान् ॥१३॥ कुतः प्राप्ताऽसि कल्गाणि विमानन मिदं यतः । रुद्यते न तु सम्भाव्यं तव दुःखस्य कारणम् ॥१४॥ सुकोशलमहाराजदुहिता लोकविश्रुता । श्लाघ्याऽपराजिताभिख्या पत्नी दशरथश्रुतेः ॥१५॥ पद्मनाभनृरत्नस्य प्रसवित्री सुलक्षणा । येन त्वं कोपिता मान्या देवतेव हतात्मना ॥१६॥ अव कुरुते तस्य प्रतापाक्रान्त विष्टपः। नृपो दशरथः श्रीमान्निग्रहं प्राणहारिणम् ॥१७॥ उवाच नारदं देवी स त्वं चिरतरागतः । देवर्षे वेत्सि वृत्तान्तं नेमं येनेति भाषसे ॥१८॥ अन्य एवासि संवृत्तो वात्सल्यं तत्पुरातनम् । कुतो विशिथिलीभूतं लच्यते निष्ठुरस्य ते ॥१६॥ कथं वार्तामपीदानी त्वं नोपलभसे गुरुः । अतिदुरादिवायातः कुतोऽपि भ्रमणप्रियः ॥२०॥ तेनोक्तं धातकीखण्डे सुरेन्द्ररमणे पुरे । विदेहेऽजनि पूर्वस्मित्रैलोक्यपरमेश्वरः ॥२१॥ मन्दरे तस्य देवेन्द्रः सुरासुरसमन्वितैः । दिव्ययाऽद्भुतया भूत्या जननाभिषवः कृतः ॥२२॥ तस्य देवाधिदेवस्य सर्वपापप्रणाशनः । अभिषेको मया दृष्टः पुण्यकर्मप्रवद्धकः ॥२३॥ आनन्दं ननृतस्तत्र देवाः प्रमुदिताः परम् । विद्याधराश्च विभ्राणा विभूतिमतिशोभनाम् ॥२४॥ जिनेन्द्रदर्शनासक्तस्तस्मिन्नतिमनोहरे । त्रयोविंशतिवर्षाणि द्वीपेऽहमुषितः सुखम् ॥२५॥ तथापि जननीतुल्यां संस्मृत्य भरतक्षितिम् । महाकृतिकरीमेष प्राप्तोऽहं चिरसेविताम् ॥२६॥ जम्बूभरतमागत्य व्रजाम्यद्यापि न क्वचित् । भवती द्रष्टुमायातो वार्ताज्ञानपिपासितः ॥२७॥
आदर किया ॥१२॥ जिसके नेत्र आँसुआंसे तरल थे तथा जिसकी आकृतिसे ही बहुत भारी शोक प्रकट हो रहा था ऐसी कौसल्याको देख नारदने पूछा कि हे कल्याणि ! तुमने किससे अनादर प्राप्त किया है, जिससे रो रही हो ? तुम्हारे दुःखका कारण तो सम्भव नहीं जान पड़ता ? ॥१३-१४॥ तुम सुकोशल महाराजकी लोकप्रसिद्ध पुत्री हो, प्रशंसनीय हो तथा राजा दशरथकी अपराजिता नामकी पत्नी हो ॥१५॥ मनुष्योंमें रत्नस्वरूप श्रीरामकी माता हो, उत्तम लक्षणोंसे युक्त हो तथा देवताके समान माननीय हो। जिस दुष्टने तुम्हें क्रोध उत्पन्न कराया है, प्रतापसे समस्त संसारको व्याप्त करनेवाले श्रीमान् राजा दशरथ आज ही उसका प्रणापहारी निग्रह करेंगे अर्थात् उसे प्राणदण्ड देंगे ॥१६-१७||
इसके उत्तरमें देवी कौसल्याने कहा कि हे देवर्षे ! तुम बहुत समय बाद आये हो इसलिए इस समाचारको नहीं जानते और इसीलिए ऐसा कह रहे हो ॥१८।। जान पड़ता है कि अब तुम दूसरे ही हो गये हो और तुम्हारी निष्ठुरता बढ़ गई है अन्यथा तुम्हारा वह पुराना वात्सल्य शिथिल क्यों दिखाई देता ? ॥२६।। आज तक भी तुम इस वार्ताको क्यों नहीं प्राप्त हो सके ? जान पड़ता है कि तुम भ्रमणप्रिय हो और अभी कहीं बहुत दूरसे आ रहे हो॥२०॥ नारदने कहा कि धातकी खण्ड-द्वीपके पूर्व विदेह क्षेत्र में एक सुरेन्द्ररमण नामका नगर है वहाँ श्रीतीर्थकर भगवानका जन्म हुआ था ।।२१।। सुरासुरसहित इन्द्रोंने सुमेरु पर्वतपर आश्चर्यकारी दिव्य वैभवके साथ उनका जन्माभिषेक किया था ।।२२॥ सो समस्त पापोंको नष्ट करने एवं पुण्यकर्मको बढ़ानेवाला तीर्थकर भगवानका वह अभिषेक मैंने देखा है ॥२३॥ उस उत्सवमें आनन्दसे भरे देवोंने तथा अत्यन्त शोभायमान विभूतिको धारण करनेवाले वि किया था ॥२४|| जिनेन्द्र भगवान्के दर्शनोंमें आसक्त हो मैं उस अतिशय मनोहारी द्वीपमें यद्यपि तेईस वर्ष तक सुखसे निवास करता रहा ।।२।। तथापि चिरकालसे सेवित तथा महान धैर्य उत्पन्न करनेवाली माताके तुल्य इस भरत-क्षेत्रको भूमिका स्मरण कर यहाँ पुनः आ पहुँचा हूँ ॥२६।। जम्बूद्वीपके भरत-क्षेत्रमें आकर मैं अभीतक कहीं अन्यत्र नहीं गया हूँ, सीधा समाचार, जाननेकी प्यास लेकर तुम्हारा दर्शन करनेके लिए आया हूँ ॥२७॥

"Indra, along with the gods and demons, performed his birth ceremony on Mount Sumeru with wondrous divine splendor." ||22||
"I witnessed that abhisheka of the Tirthankara Bhagwan, who destroys all sins and promotes virtuous deeds." ||23||
"The gods, filled with joy, danced in celebration, and the Vidyadharas adorned themselves with radiant splendor." ||24||
"Engrossed in the vision of the Jinenadra, I resided happily on that extremely captivating island for twenty-three years." ||25||
"However, remembering this Bharat-kshetra, which is like a mother to me, and the great patience it has instilled in me, I have returned here after a long time." ||26||
