अष्टसप्ततितम पर्व
एवं स तावत्सुमहाविभूत्या मत्तोऽभवद् यः पुनरस्य पूर्वम् । ज्यायानभूधर्ममसौ विधाय मृत्वा गतः कल्पनिवासिभावम् ॥७३॥ स पूर्वमेव प्रतिबोधकार्ये कनीयसा याचित उद्धदेवः । समाश्रितः क्षुल्लकरूपमेतं प्रबोधमानेतुमभूत्कृताशः ॥७॥ गृहं च तस्य प्रविशनियुक्तीरे नरैदूर निराकृतः सन् । रूपं श्रितोऽसौ रतिवर्द्धनस्य देवः क्षणेनोपनतं यथावत् ॥७५॥ कृत्वा च तं तन्नगरप्रभावितोन्मत्तकाकारमरण्यमारात् । निर्वास्य गत्वा 'गदति स्म का ते वार्ताऽधुना मत्परिभूतिभाजः ॥६॥ जगौ च पूर्व जननं यथावत्ततः प्रबोधं समुपागतोऽसौ । सम्यक्त्वयुक्तो रतिवद्धनोऽभूनन्द्यादयश्चापि नृपा विशेषात् ॥७॥ प्रव्रज्य राजा प्रथमामरस्य गतः सकाशं कृतकालधर्मः। ततश्च्युतौ तौ विजयेऽभिजातौ उर्विसाख्यौ नगरे नरेन्द्रात् ॥७॥ सहोदरौ तौ पुनरेव धर्म विधाय जैनं त्रिदशावभूताम् । ततश्च्युताविन्द्रजिदब्दवाही जातौ भवन्ताविह खेचरेशौ ॥७९॥ या नन्दिनश्चेन्दुमुखी द्वितीया भवान्तरान्तहितजन्मिका सा। मन्दोदरी स्नेहवशेन सेयं माताऽभवद्वा जिनधर्मसक्ता ॥२॥
आर्याच्छन्दः श्रुत्वा भवमिति विविधं त्यक्त्वा संसारवस्तुनि प्रीतिम् । पुरुसंवेगसमेतौ जगहतरुग्रामिमी दीक्षाम् ॥८॥
इस प्रकार प्रथम और पश्चिम इन दो भाइयों में पश्चिम तो महाविभूति पाकर मत्त हो गया उसके मदमें भूल गया और पूर्वभव में जो उसका बड़ा भाई प्रथम था वह मरकर स्वगेमें देव पर्यायको प्राप्त हुआ ।।७३॥ पश्चिमने प्रथमसे उस पर्यायमें याचना की थी कि यदि तुम देवताओं और मैं मनुष्य होऊँ तो तुम मुझे सम्बोधन करना। इस याचनाको स्मृतिमें रखता हुआ प्रथमका जीव देव रतिवर्धनको सम्बोधनेके लिए तुल्लकका रूपधर कर उसके घर में प्रवेश कर रहा था कि द्वार पर नियुक्त पुरुषों द्वारा उसने उसे दूर हटा दिया। तदनन्तर उस देवने क्षणभरमें रतिवर्धनका रूप रख लिया और असली रतिवर्धनको पागल जैसा बनाकर जङ्गलमें दूर खदेड़ दिया। तदनन्तर उसके पास जाकर बोला कि तुमने मेरा अनादर किया था, अब कहो तुम्हारा क्या हाल है ? ॥७४-७६॥ इतना कहकर उस देवने रतिवर्धनके लिए अपने पूर्व जन्मका यथार्थ निरूपण किया जिससे वह शीघ्र ही प्रबोधको प्राप्त हो सम्यग्दृष्टि हो गया । साथ ही नन्दी सेठ आदि भी सम्यग्दृष्टि हो गये ॥७७॥ तदनन्तर राजा रतिवर्धन दीक्षा धारण कर कालधर्म (मृत्यु) को प्राप्त होता हुआ बड़े भाई प्रथमका जीव जहाँ देव था वहीं जाकर उत्पन्न हुआ । तदनन्तर दोनों देव वहाँ से च्युत हो विजय नामक नगरमें वहाँ के राजाके उर्व और उर्वस् नामक पुत्र हुए ॥७८॥ तत्पश्चात् जिनेन्द्र प्रणीत धर्म धारण कर दोनों भाई फिरसे देव हुए और वहाँसे च्युत हो आप दोनों यहाँ इन्द्रजित् और मेघवाहन नामक विद्याधराधिपति हुए हो |६| और जो नन्दी सेठकी इन्द्रमुखी नामकी भार्या थी वह भवान्तरमें एक जन्मका अन्तर ले स्नेहके कारण जिनधर्ममें लीन तुम्हारी माता मन्दोदरी हुई है ॥५०॥
इस प्रकार अपने अनेक भव सुन संसार सम्बन्धी वस्तुओंमें प्रीति छोड़ परम संवेगसे

Thus, the Western brother, having attained great power, became intoxicated with pride and forgot his past. His elder brother, the Eastern one, having performed great deeds of righteousness, passed away and attained the state of a celestial being. ||73||

In his previous birth, the Western brother had requested the Eastern one, who was then a celestial being, to enlighten him if he were to become a human and the Eastern one a celestial being. Remembering this request, the Eastern one's soul, in the form of a Tullika, entered the house of the celestial being Rativardhan to enlighten him. However, the guards at the door drove him away. ||74||

Then, in a moment, the celestial being assumed the form of Rativardhan and drove the real Rativardhan away into the forest, making him appear like a madman. ||75||

Approaching him, the celestial being said, "You have disrespected me. Now tell me, what is your state?" ||76||

Having said this, the celestial being revealed the truth of his previous birth to Rativardhan, causing him to attain enlightenment and become a right-seeing soul. ||77||

Similarly, Nandi Seth and others also became right-seeing souls. ||77||

Thereafter, King Rativardhan, having taken the vows of renunciation, attained the end of his life cycle and was reborn in the same celestial realm where his elder brother, the Eastern one, resided. ||78||

From there, both celestial beings were reborn as the sons of the king of Vijay Nagar, named Urva and Urvas. ||78||

Subsequently, both brothers, having embraced the religion established by the Jina, became celestial beings once again. ||79||

From there, they were reborn as the celestial rulers, Indrajeet and Meghavahan. ||79||

And the wife of Nandi Seth, Indramukhi, having been reborn in a different birth cycle, became your mother, Mandodari, due to her affection and devotion to the Jina's religion. ||80||

Having heard of these various births, you have abandoned your attachment to worldly things and, with great fervor, have taken the vows of renunciation. ||81||
