पद्मपुराणे
तयोः स्नेहमरेणैवं कुर्वतोरथ रोदनम् । वसन्तमालयाप्युच्चैरुदितं पार्श्वयातया ॥ ३५० ॥ रुदत्सु तेषु कारुण्यादरुदंस्तद्योषितः । कृतरोदास्वथैतासु रुरुदू रुरुयोषितः ॥३५१॥ गुहावदनमुक्तेन प्रतिनादेन भूयसा । पर्वतोऽपि रुरोदैवं संततैर्निर्झराश्रुभिः ॥ ३५२॥ ततः शब्दमयं सर्वं तद्बभूव तदा वनम् । शकुन्तैरपि कारुण्यादाकुलैः कृतनिस्वनम् ||३५३ || सान्त्वयित्वा ततस्तस्या दत्तेनोदकवाहिना । वारिणाक्षालयद्वक्त्रं स्वस्य च प्रतिभास्करः ॥ ३५४ ॥ पारम्पर्येण तेनैव ततस्तत्पुनरप्यभूत् । वनं मुक्तमहाशब्दं श्रोतुं वार्तामिवानयोः || ३५५ || ततः क्षणमिव स्थित्वा निष्क्रान्तौ दुःखगह्वरात् । अपृच्छतां मिथो वार्तां कुलेऽकथयतां च तौ ।। ३५६ ।। संभाषणं ततश्चक्रे तत्स्त्रीणामञ्जना क्रमात् । स्खलन्ति न विधातव्ये वनेऽपि गुणिनो जनाः ॥ ३५७ ॥ जगाद मातुलं चैवं पूज्य जातस्य मेऽखिलम् । निवेदय यथावस्थं दिनद्योतिः कदम्बकम् ॥ ३५८ ॥ -इत्युक्ते पार्श्वगं नाम्ना द्योतिर्गर्भविशारदम् । सांवत्सरमपृच्छत्स जातकर्म यथास्थितम् ||३५९|| ततः सांवत्सरोऽवोचत्कल्याणस्य निवेदय । जन्मसंबन्धिनी वेलामित्युक्ते चाख्यदञ्जना ॥३६०॥ अर्धयामावशेषायां रजन्यामद्य बालकः । प्रजात इति सख्या च कथितं निष्प्रमादया || ३६१॥ मौहूर्तेन ततोऽवाचि यथास्य र्वेपुराचितम् । सुलक्षणैस्तथा मन्ये दारकं सिद्धिभाजनम् ॥३६२॥ तथापि यद्यसंतोषः क्रियेयं लौकिकीति वा । ततः शृणु पुलाकेन कथयाम्यस्य जीवनम् ॥ ३६३ ॥ वर्तते तिथिरद्येयं चैत्रस्य बहुलाष्टमी । नक्षत्रं श्रवणः स्वामी वासरस्य विभावसुः ॥ ३६४ ॥
समस्त दुःख आँसुओंके साथ निकल गया सो ठीक ही है क्योंकि आत्मीयजनोंके मिलनेपर संसारकी ऐसी ही स्थिति होती है || ३४९ || इस तरह स्नेहके भारसे जब दोनों रो रहे थे तब पासमें बैठी वसन्तमाला भी जोरसे रो पड़ी || ३५० || उन सबके रोनेपर विद्याधरको स्त्रियाँ भी करुणावश रोने लगीं और इन सबको रोते देख हरिणियाँ भी रोने लगीं || ३५१ | उस समय गुफारूपी मुखसे जोरकी प्रतिध्वनि निकल रही थी इसलिए ऐसा जान पड़ता था मानो पर्वत भी झरनोंके बहाने बड़े-बड़े ढालता हुआ रो रहा था || ३५२ || और पक्षी भी दयावश आकुल होकर शब्द कर रहे थे इसलिए वह सम्पूर्ण वन उस समय शब्दमय हो गया था ॥ ३५३ ॥ तदनन्तर प्रतिसूर्य विद्याधरने सान्त्वना देने के बाद जल लानेवाले नौकरके द्वारा दिये हुए जलसे अंजनाका और अपना मुँह धोया || ३५४ || पहले जिस क्रमसे वन शब्दायमान हो गया था उसी क्रमसे अब पुनः शब्दरहित हो गया सो ऐसा जान पड़ता था मानो इन दोनोंकी वार्ता सुननेके लिए ही चुप हो रहा हो ।। ३५५॥ तदनन्तर क्षण-भर ठहरकर जब दोनों दुःखरूपी गर्तसे बाहर निकले तब उन्होंने परस्पर कुशल-वार्ता पूछी और अपने-अपने कुलका हाल एक दूसरेको बताया || ३५६ | इसके बाद अंजनाने प्रतिसूर्य की स्त्रियों के साथ क्रमसे सम्भाषण किया सो ठीक हो है क्योंकि गुणीजन करने योग्य कार्यमें कभी नहीं चूकते हैं || ३५७|| अंजनाने मामासे कहा कि पूज्य ! मेरे पुत्रके समस्त ग्रह कैसी दशा में हैं सो बताइए || ३५८ || ऐसा कहनेपर मामाने ज्योतिष विद्यामें निपुण पाश्वंग नामक ज्योतिषी से पुत्रके यथावस्थित जातकर्मको पूछा अर्थात् पुत्रकी ग्रह स्थिति पूछी ॥ ३५९ ॥ तब ज्योतिषी ने कहा कि इस कल्याणस्वरूप पुत्रका जन्म समय बताओ । ज्योतिषीके ऐसा पूछनेपर अंजनाने समय बताया || ३६०|| साथ ही प्रमादको दूर करनेवाली सखी वसन्तमालाने भी कहा कि आज रात्रिमें जब अर्धप्रहर बाकी था तब बालक उत्पन्न हुआ था ॥ ३६१ ॥ तदनन्तर मुहूर्तके जाननेवाले ज्योतिषीने कहा कि इसका शरीर जैसा शुभलक्षणोंसे युक्त है उससे जान पड़ता है कि बालक सब प्रकारकी सिद्धियोंका भाजन होगा || ३६२ || फिर भी यदि सन्तोष नहीं है अथवा ऐसा ख्याल है कि यह क्रिया लौकिकी है तो सुनो मैं संक्षेपसे इसका जीवन कहता हूँ || ३६३ || आज १. मृग्यः । २० प्रति सूर्यः । ३. पुत्रस्य । ४. यथास्य च पुराचितम् म. ।
