द्वादशं पवं
कीलालपटलच्छन्न' गन्ना साकदम्बके । गजकर्णसमुद्भूततीचा कुलसमीरणे ॥ ३०४॥ उवाच सारथिं वीरः सुमति कैकसीसुतः । न किंचिदिव मन्वानो रणं रणकुतूहली ॥ ३०५ ॥ तस्यैव शक्रसंज्ञस्य संमुखो वाह्यतां रथः । असमानैः किमत्रान्यैः सामन्तैस्तस्य मारितैः ॥ ३०६ ॥ तृणतुल्येषु नामीषु मम शस्त्रं प्रवर्तते । मनश्च सुमहावीरग्रास ग्रहणघस्मरम् ॥३०७॥ आखण्डलत्वमस्याद्य कृतं क्षुद्राभिमानतः । करोमि मृत्युना दूरं स्वविडम्बनकारिणः ॥३०८॥ अयं शक्रो महानेते लोकपालाः प्रकल्पिताः । अन्ये च मानुषा देवा नाकश्व धरणीधरैः ॥३०९॥ अहो लोकावहासस्यै मत्तस्य क्षुद्रया श्रिया । आत्मा विस्मृत एवास्य भ्रुकुंसस्येव दुर्मतेः ॥ ३१०॥ शुक्रशोणित मांसास्थिमज्जादिघटिते चिरम् । उषित्वा जठरे पापस्त्रिदशंमन्यतां गतः ॥ ३११॥ विद्याबलेन यत्किंचित्कुर्वाणो धैर्यदुर्विधः । एष देवायतो ध्वाङ्क्षी वैनतेयायते यथा ।। ३१२ || एवमुक्तेन शक्रस्य बलं सम्मतिना रथः । प्रवेशितो "महाशूरसामन्त परिपालितः || ३१३ || पश्यन्निन्द्रस्य सामन्तान्युद्धाशक्त पलायितान् । ऋजुना चक्षुषा राजा कीटकोपमचेष्टितान् ॥३१४॥ अशक्यः शत्रुभिर्धर्त्त कूलैः पूरो यथाम्भसः । चेतोवेगश्च सक्रोधो मिथ्यादृष्टिवताश्रितैः ॥ ३१५|| दृष्ट्वातपत्रमेतस्य क्षीरोदावर्तपाण्डुरम् । नष्टं सुरबलं क्वापि तमश्चन्द्रोदये यथा ॥ ३१६ ||
होकर नीचे गिर जाते थे ||३०३ || जहाँ लोगोंकी नासिकाओंके समूह पड़ते हुए खून के समूह से आच्छादित हो रहे थे अथवा जहाँ आकाश और दिशाओंके समूह खूनके समूहसे आच्छादित थे और जहाँ हाथियोंके कानोंकी फटकारसे प्रचण्ड वायु उत्पन्न हो रही थी || ३०४ || इस प्रकार योद्धाओंके बीच भयंकर युद्ध हो रहा था पर युद्धके कुतूहल से भरा वीर रावण उस युद्धको ऐसा मान रहा था जैसा कि मानो कुछ हो ही न रहा हो। उसने अपने सुमति नामक सारथिसे कहा कि उस इन्द्रके सामने ही रथ ले जाया जाये क्योंकि जो हमारी समानता नहीं रखते ऐसे उसके अन्य सामन्तोंके मारनेसे क्या लाभ है ? ||३०५ - ३०६ ॥ तृणके समान तुच्छ इनं सामन्तोंपर न तो मेरा शस्त्र उठता है और न महाभटरूपी ग्रासके ग्रहण करनेमें तत्पर मेरा मन ही इनकी ओर प्रवृत्त होता है || ३०७|| अपने आपकी विडम्बना करानेवाले इस विद्याधरने क्षुद्र अभिमान के

शीभूत हो अपने आपको जो इन्द्र मान रखा है सो इसके उस इन्द्रपनाको आज मृत्युके द्वारा दूर करता हूँ ||३०८|| यह बड़ा इन्द्र बना है, ये लोकपाल इसीने बनाये हैं । यह अन्य मनुष्यों को देव मानता है और विजयार्ध पर्वतको स्वर्गं समझता है || ३०९ || बड़े आश्चर्यकी बात है कि जिस प्रकार कोई दुर्बुद्धि नट उत्तम पुरुषका वेष धर अपने आपको भुला देता है उसी प्रकार यह दुर्बुद्धि क्षुद्र लक्ष्मीसे मत्त होकर अपने आपको भुला रहा है, तथा लोगोंकी हँसीका पात्र हो रहा है ॥ ३१०॥ शुक्र, शोणित, मांस, हड्डी और मज्जा आदिसे भरे हुए माताके उदर में चिरकाल तक निवास कर यह अपने आपको देव मानने लगा है ||३११ || विद्याके बलसे कुछ तो भी करता हुआ • अधीर व्यक्ति अपने आपको देव समझ रहा है जो इसका यह कार्य ऐसा है कि जिस प्रकार अपने आपको गरुड़ समझने लगता है || ३१२ || ऐसा कहते ही सुमति नामक सारथिने महाबलवान् सामन्तोंके द्वारा सुरक्षित रावणके रथको इन्द्रकी सेनामें प्रविष्ट कर दिया || ३१३ ॥ वहाँ जाकर रावणने इन्द्रके उन सामन्तों को सरल दृष्टिसे देखा कि जो युद्ध में असमर्थ होकर भाग रहे थे, तथा कीड़ों के समान जिनकी दयनीय चेष्टाएँ थीं ||३१४ || जिस प्रकार किनारे नोरके प्रवाहको नहीं रोक सकते हैं और जिस प्रकार मिथ्यादर्शन के साथ व्रताचरण करनेवाले मनुष्य क्रोधसहित मनके वेगको नहीं रोक पाते हैं उसी प्रकार शत्रु भी रावणको आगे बढ़ने से नहीं रोक सके थे ||३१५॥ जिस प्रकार चन्द्रमाका उदय होनेपर अन्धकार नष्ट हो जाता है उसी प्रकार १. गगनाशा- म. । २. विजयार्धगिरिः । ३. लोकापहासस्य म । ४. सन्मतिना ब । ५. महाशूरः सामन्तः म. ।
