________________ २४० पद्मपुराणे ततो निश्चयविज्ञाततदसङ्गमदु:खिता । कराभ्यां भृशमाध्नाना स्तनावरुरुदत् स्वनम् ॥२८॥ नारदस्तमथ श्रुत्वा वृत्तान्तं धर्मवत्सलः। द्रष्टुमागादुपाध्यायीं क्षणं शोकसमाकुलः ॥२९॥ तं दृष्ट्वा सुतरां चक्रे स्तनताडनरोदनम् । निसर्गोऽयं यदाप्तस्य पुरः शोको विवर्धते ॥३०॥ जगाद नारदो मातः किं शोक कुरुषे वृथा । कृते शोकेऽधुना नासावागच्छति विशुद्धधीः ॥३१॥ कर्मणानुगृहीतोऽसौ चारुणा चारुचेष्टितः । जीवितं चञ्चलं ज्ञात्वा यस्तपः कर्तमुथतः ॥३२॥ तनुतां बोध्यमानायाः शोकस्तस्या गतः क्रमात् । द्विषती च स्तुवाना च भर्तारं सा स्थिता गृहे ॥३३॥ एतस्मादेव चोदन्ताद् ययातिस्तत्त्वकोविदः । राज्यभारं वसोन्यस्य बभूव श्रमणो महान् ॥३४॥ सुप्रतिष्ठोऽभवद् राजा पृथिव्यां प्रथितो वसुः । नमःस्फटिकविस्तीर्ण शिलास्थहरिविष्टरः ॥३५॥ समं पर्वतकेनाथ नारदस्यान्यदाभवत् । कथेयं शास्त्रतत्त्वार्थनिरूपणपरायणा ॥३६॥ जगाद नारदोऽहनिः सर्वज्ञः सर्वदर्शिमिः । द्विविधो विहितो धर्मः सूक्ष्मोदारविशेषतः ॥३७॥ हिंसाया अनृतात् स्तेयात् स्मरसंगात् परिग्रहात् । विरतेव्रतमुद्दिष्टं भावनामिः समन्वितम् ॥३८॥ विरतिं सर्वतः कर्तुं ये शक्तास्ते महाव्रतम् । सेवन्तेऽणुव्रतं शेषा जन्तवो गृहमाश्रिताः ॥३९॥ संविभागोऽतिथीनां च तेषामुक्तो जिनाधिपैः । यज्ञाख्यावस्थितास्तस्मिन् भेदैः पात्रादिभिर्युतैः ॥४०॥ मातासे कहा कि मेरा पिता नग्नमुनियों और उनके भक्तों द्वारा प्रतारित हो नग्न हो गया है ॥२७॥ तदनन्तर स्वस्तिमतीने जब निश्चयसे यह जान लिया कि अब पतिका समागम मुझे प्राप्त नहीं होनेवाला है तब वह अत्यन्त दुःखी हुई। वह दोनों हाथोंसे स्तनोंको पीटती एवं जोरसे चिल्लाती हुई रुदन करने लगी ॥२८॥ यह वृत्तान्त सुन धर्मस्नेही नारद शोकसे व्याकुल होता हुआ अपनी गुरानीको देखनेके लिए आया ॥२९॥ उसे देख वह और भी अधिक स्तन पीटकर रोने लगी सो ठीक ही है क्योंकि यह स्वाभाविक बात है कि आप्तजनोंके समक्ष शोक बढ़ने लगता है ॥३०॥ नारदने कहा कि हे माताजी! व्यर्थ ही शोक क्यों करती हो ? क्योंकि इस समय शोक करनेसे निर्मल बुद्धिके धारक गुरुजी वापस नहीं आवेंगे ॥३१॥ सुन्दर चेष्टाओंके धारक गुरुजीपर पुण्यकर्मने बड़ा अनुग्रह किया है कि जिससे वे जीवनको चंचल जानकर तप करनेके लिए उद्यत हुए हैं ॥३२॥ इस प्रकार नारदके समझानेपर उसका शोक क्रम-क्रमसे हलका हो गया। स्वस्तिमती कभी तो पतिकी निन्दा करती थी कि वे एक अबलाको असहाय छोड़कर चल दिये और कभी उनके गुणोंका चिन्तवन कर स्तुति करती थी कि इनकी निर्लेपता कितनी उच्चकोटिकी थी। इस प्रकार निन्दा और स्तुति करती हुई वह घरमें रहने लगी ॥३३॥ ___ इसी घटनासे तत्त्वोंका जानकार ययाति राजा भी वसूके लिए राज्यभार सौंपकर महामनि गया ॥३४॥ नवीन राजा वसकी पथिवीपर बडी प्रतिष्ठा बढी। आकाशस्फटिककी लम्बी-चौडी शिलापर उसका सिंहासन स्थित था सो लोकमें ऐसी प्रसिद्धि हुई कि सत्यके बलपर वसु आकाशमें निराधार स्थित है ॥३५॥ अथानन्तर एक दिन नारदकी पर्वतके साथ शास्त्रका वास्तविक अर्थ प्रकट करनेपर तत्पर निम्नलिखित चर्चा हुई ॥३६।। नारदने कहा कि सबको जानने-देखनेवाले अर्हन्त भगवान्ने अणुव्रत और महाव्रतके भेदसे धर्म दो प्रकारका कहा है ॥३७॥ हिंसा, झूठ, चोरी, कुशील और परिग्रह इन पांच पापोंसे विरक्त होनेको व्रत कहते हैं। यह व्रत प्रत्येक व्रतकी पाँच-पांच भावनाओंसे सहित होता है ॥३८|| जो उक्त पापोंका सर्वदेश त्याग करने में समर्थ हैं वे महाव्रत ग्रहण करते हैं और जो घरमें रहते हैं ऐसे शेषजन अणुव्रत धारण करते हैं ॥३९॥ जिनेन्द्र भगवान्ने गृहस्थोंका एक व्रत अतिथिसंविभाग बतलाया है जो पात्रादिके भेदसे अनेक प्रकारका १. दृष्टा म. । २. कृशताम् । ३. द्विषतीव क., म., ब. । ४. दृद्भिः (?) म.। ५. अणुव्रतमहाव्रतविशेषतः । ६. हिंसया म. । ७. स्तेया म. । ८. दारसंगात् म. । Jain Education International For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
