The present edition is a well-edited version of the text and has Sanskrit, Kannada, Hindi commentaries as well. Humbly I pay my tribute to the meticulous editior of this classic work of cosmology, namely, late Pt. Kailash Chandra Siddhāntācārya, who, being my revered Guru, was also a general editor of the Murtidevi Granthamālā. I would, with the same gesture, pay my tribute to the illustrious scholars, Dr. Hiralal Jain, Dr. A.N. Upadhye and Dr. Jyoti Prasad Jain, who, as general editors of the Mürtidevi Granthamālā, have immensely contributed to the Bharatiya Jnanpith. Also, it is my first and foremost duty to pay my humble homage to the late lamented couple, Sahu Shanti Prasad Jain and Smt. Ramarani who had been the pivot of diverse progressive expeditions of literary pursuits at national level and whose mission is competently carried on by their worthy son, Shri Sahu Ashok Kumar Jain. Let me also thank Sahu Ramesh Chandra Jain, Trustee, Hony. Director Shri Dinesh Misra, my seniors and colleagues in the office who have enabled me to take up this tedious job.
