Though one does not find the methods of cooking various items of food value in canons, but they mention many eatables like fruits, vegetables, flowers, sweetmeats etc. Dasavaikälika one of the earliest secondary Jaina canons mentions many such items which give us an idea about what the ascetics and common people did eat those days. They are given in Table 8. The items also represent the commonly available food materials.
