Amritlal Mohanlal. He was fortunate enough to have the full guidance of Muniraja Shri Punyavijayji, who not only gave him the Mss. but also helped him in various ways. We thank both of them for their hearty co-operation. We also thank Acāry Jinavijayaji for readily handing over his copy of Cauppannamahapurisacariya to Pt. Amritlal. Dr. A. N. Upadhye suggested that Dr. Klaus Bruhn will be the fittest scholar to write the introduction to the work. On our request Dr. Bruhn readily agreed to it and inspite of his many inconviences, within a short time wrote the introduction which is printed here with the text. We thank Dr. Upadhye for happy suggestion and have no enough words to thank Dr. Bruhn for his kind co-operation in this difficult task.
